Umbrella Cockatoo- 15? years old..I think?
I believe Owlet was assuming that you already had a bond with this bird.
WAIT UNTIL THE BABY TRUSTS YOU---You do not want to do this with a fearful bird.
You literally just got your bird yesterday afternoon. SLOW DOWN (please :) )
The bird must happily take food from your hand before you can target train---if your bird isn't comfortable with you or its surroundings, standing near it and clicking (while pushing food towards it and pointing a stick is going to terrify it and you will be worse off than you were).
I wouldn't start until you have had your bird for about a month (possibly less but only if the bird will take food from your hand *without hesitation* (and is comfortably exploring the world around him/her).

Thanks for the responses. Kiwi is taking food from my hand, although I do believe he needs some more adjustment time. I will wait a few weeks until he is fully settled. Thanks for the guidance. :)
