Brown headed parrot and two budgies.
I wonder if someone can give me advice on how to help my budgie. It looks like she is trying to lay an egg, I see something making it's way half out but then she seems in pain and it goes back in. How long do I let her try to lay it on her own. It just started today. If I need to help her, do I just gently rub her belly and try to help it out? I don't really want to hold her down unless I have to. She is tame, but on her own terms. This will be her first ever egg.
Thanks

I would get her to the vet pronto. If the egg is stuck too far up, or if it breaks, complications can quickly arise. Sometimes a vet has to break the egg--- but this is a complicated process and should only be done by a vet.

Some sites recommend a warm bath but you need to keep the bird warm and get her to a vet if at all possible. If she is very wet, she will get cold easily, even in a 75 F home.
