Vent-free gas heaters?

I have been looking everywhere and cannot find an answer. Question: can I use a natural gas ventless/vent-free heater in the same room as the parrot are located? The room is about 20’ x 20’ with vaulted ceilings. Where the parrots are located in the family room, it is cooler than the rest of the house. I would prefer to use a gas heater in lieu of larger electric heaters to take some of the chill out of the air. I do have small forced air electric heaters that I run at night and cover the tops of their cages to keep the heat in. I live in northeast Ohio and the cold winter months are fast approaching. I plan to have a O2 and CO2 sensor within the room to monitor the air quality. Thank in advance for any and all comments.

Unfamiliar with this type of heater as it apparently vents exhaust into the room? By definition this includes carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, and nitrogen dioxide, all toxic to humans and parrots.

If I understand your question correctly, no such heater is appropriate. Oil filled radiator heaters are perhaps the safest solution.

Scott, thank you for your comment. The heater states it is good for indoor use. I assume the fumes it emits are no greater or different than a natural gas stove. Attached is some information about the heater in question..

I've had basically the same one for the last 14 years and never had an issue. I have the 40,000 BTU model.

Interesting, not familiar with this type, but it does vent into the ambient atmosphere. I'd be loathe to recommend from the view of extreme caution.

This product works under the same guidelines as a gas oven. The differences is that the oven heats for a very short period of time and is shut-off.

Vent-free gas heaters "ASSUME" that you will be heating an area for a short period of time and turning it OFF. They also ASSUME that the home is of an older design and have extensive heat loss (drafting) to the Great Outdoors.

This Product is NOT design for on-going use!!! At most, short-term supplemental heating.

This product is dangerous for general heating use!!!

General Heating Products require venting to the Great Outdoors!

Thanks for an expanded caution, Steven! I had only assumed these characteristics, appreciate the itemized risk factors. It may indeed save lives!
