New Carpet????

Help! I don't know what to do! I'm moving into an apartment tomorrow and we got the keys tonight. They put in new carpet and there is still a pretty strong smell. I'm thinking I'm going to go back and start running the air purifier I just got overnight. Will this help? Will my eclectus be okay? I was planning on taking him with me tomorrow. If I don't my dad will have to take care of him and he won't come out of his cage ever until he comes home to me. Thoughts?

Well, it would have been nice for the Landlord to have informed you as to the type of carpet and what level of VOC it has and what 'treatment' was added during its manufacturing process. At this point, it a game of 'how much air exchange' you can create in the next 12 to 18 hours...

If it was me, I would obtain as many of those 'box' style fans as there are windows and open every window in the apartment and set them in front of the open windows, blowing air to the great outdoors. Turn the heat 'off' and hope that things are better in the morning.

Tomorrow, once you complete your last trip in. Only then, close the windows, turn on the heat and bring in your Parrot. Turn your air purifier on prior to bring in your Parrot.

You may have to continue to have a window open blowing air out of the apartment.
