Wondering what others have done to prevent the issue weā€™re having. Our eclectus Charlie has figured out he can climb between the bottom rungs of his cage and fish out food heā€™s dropped. It was cute for a minute but he makes a massive mess with the corn cob bedding. I was thinking about attaching a 1x4ā€ piece of wood around the base of the cage to keep him from doing this. What have you guys found effective for this issue (Iā€™m assuming weā€™re not the first to have this problem). Thanks all! IMG_5805.jpg

You can get a piece of acrylic cut to fit from home depot or lowes

RIP Gandalf and Big Bird, you are missed.
You definitely don't want Charlie ingesting corncob bits! Great solution by Laura!

Oh yes. To our knowledge heā€™s not eating the corn cob, and weā€™ve been watching shaking our heads at the mess. But always good to make sure, youā€™re right about that!

What thickness of acrylic do you find is best? I worry that anything less than 1/8ā€ is too thin, but 1/4ā€ seems aggressively thick.

I use those pre cut squares i fint know tge thickness. I put on top of cages to prevent poop mess from going into their cage when they are out. And drilled holes an attach on sides to prevent food mess from going out
