Lear's Macaw, thought to be extinct was rediscovered and apparently doing well going from an estimated 60 individuals to about 1100 at last survey. It is not a Hyacinth Macaw.

Oh fantastic! And what a gorgeous creature.

(Bumble would like to remind you that she is a blue parrot. I haven’t got the heart to tell her she’s unnatural [emoji23])

There is no question that having a population return in their numbers to a stronger foundation is a wonderful thing. Lear's Macaw, does look much like the Hyacinths. Wonder if there is any Hyacinths out there that are in fact part of one of the other species?

Bumble unnatural, say it's not true! Wait, she is visiting her feather stylist!?!? :D

All because of dedicated conservation efforts and breeders alike allow us to keep stunning birds like Lear's for generations to come

Still makes me wonder, what really happened to their close relative the Glaucous macaw, are there hybrid birds out there between hyacinths or lear's, or are there any pure ones out there ready to be found...........who knows.....Blue macaws are a mystery at times
