How to DNA test?

I want to get my new conure DNA tested, once I get him/her, but how do you do it?

I know you have to either pull out a few feathers or get a blood sample, but I'm kinda scared to do both.

I don't want to pull a few feathers and hurt her or scare her, but I don't know where to get a blood sample besides a toe nail. And after her toe nail starts bleeding, where do I store the blood? I don't have random vials in my house.

I'm thinking I'll just do the feather test, since it doesn't seem as risky as a blood test, but will she be scared of me if I pull out a few feathers?

It is very easy. Order a kit from avianbiotec.com
I prefer to clip the toe nail not puck the feather. You just clip a little bit more then usual and you place a drop in a circle on a special card they give you. Then I use cayenne pepper to stop bleeding. Kwikstop actually burns birds. Simple as that. Mail it in the special envelope with payment and you get results by email in 3-4 days and by mail in about 7 days.

Someone on another forum taught me how to sex sun conures without DNA testing :). She breeds them, and she can tell by feeling their vent. So I'm gonna spend $20 on toys instead! Or maybe those stainless steel food cups that I really wanted....
