This lady near Cincinnati Ohio has some conures for $100 they really need better homes she has lots and lots of other kinds of birds! I got my bird cheech there a week ago! He was in the cage with another bird no toys no nothing she sprays them with listerine water and doesn't take them out of cage! You can find the add on oodles.com

Idk how well it is for birds, but a lot of people use listerine for other animals (and lots of other things) such as reptiles. It is perfectly safe for them, cleans them of germs, helps heal wounds, prevents/kills mites, ect. I've been meaning to ask if anyone uses it for birds. Well on cages really not so much birds...

I don't, but I have seen and heard it recommended before, even for pluckers.

It's like using bleach in a birds water or using bleach to wash their vegetables with.

I can't see using either of them myself and would worry that it would cause more harm than good.

Hopefully, the birds have already found new homes!

Like I said idk if it's ok or not but it's definitely not comparable to bleach because all the active ingredients are all herbal essential oils.

Tricky thing is, you want to save the birds, but you don't want to support her so she continues to buy/breed more birds.
Bit of a catch-22.

If they're really poorly treated, maybe authorities can get involved? I don't know what laws are like in Ohio.

I know what you mean. I am involved with animal rescue and it is so hard to walk out of a bad breeder's home or a mill without wanting to take one with you, but it only opens the cage for another and sends the message they can sell so they get more. It is such a vicious cycle. I did it once, paid $900 to get a sick dog out of a bad situation. I do not regret it, but would never do it again. Breeders prey on this and that is what keeps them in business. That dog I mentioned, well ten years later, she is still selling even with a cease and desist. See what I mean, just keeps them in business and the laws do not do enough to protect animals. Very sad.
