Bingo’s story.
After having Plumas for a little over a year we still wanted a parrot that would talk. It looked as though Plumas was not going to learn to speak.
We enjoyed watching Plumas. We had set up a T stand and he would fly between the cage and the stand whenever he wanted. We never considered selling him just because he was not what we had been looking for.
We did a bit more research for the second bird and were looking for an amazon parrot that was hand raised and had a higher chance of talking.
We found an ad in The Penny Saver or The Recycler (one of those free ad magazines) for a 6 month old Yellow Nape. He was close by so we went to take a look.
I did not know then how to read amazon body language but when we first met him he started to do the “happy to see you” dance. Tail feathers spread out, wings slightly spread, eyes pinning, feathers on neck fluffed out and TALKING. I asked if he was friendly as was told yes so I offered my hand and he climbed right on.
Now there are a number of things I don’t remember or remember differently than my wife does. She thinks the people selling Bingo (that was his name O and we did not change it) sold him because they did not like the mess he created in their house. I don’t remember going IN to their house. I remember the price at $800. My wife says it was 1K.
He knew how to say a bunch of things that he has forgotten.
“want a bath…want a kiss.”
“Here kitty kitty kitty”
He has of course learned to repeat a lot of the things we say in the 30 or so years we have had him.
In the first year he was friendly with both my wife and I. after about 1 ½ years he changed. I guess he was going through puberty and he started um doing things. He started rubbing his bottom on my wife’s hand. We were puzzled by this behavior never having seen or heard of it.
Obviously I know NOW what he was doing .Anyway, He took a dislike to my wife after that and I became his person. Bingo has been my best feathered friend and will cuddle with me in the morning if he is in the mood. He has also been the source of my worst bites when not paying attention to his body language OR taking a bite to protect a family member from getting the same treatment.
Bingo has and is a real joy to me and I am looking forward to many more years of his company.

Bingo sounds like a treasure-o.
That's funny how he was pleasuring himself before you got wise to it!
He sounds like a happy darling.
