Stephen really nailed the point regarding regaining strength and flap training is the central source for regaining that strength. And as Tami stated, along with that strength comes regaining confidence. And, that is best helped by retraining landing! Check-out the huge Thread in the Amazon Forum: I Love Amazons - ... and one of it many segments will be helpful, its titled something like Refledging an Adult Parrot.

Parrots that had not flown in years or who's experience flying was short really need retraining.

Enjoy.

'Boats makes an excellent point. I wish Amy would agree Even though he seems to like his lessons he shows zero interest. It makes me kind of sad too. He has no objection walking to wherever he wants to go..down the hallway to this room or my bedroom..sometimes into the kitchen to try and swipe one of Missy's ( the gert..a.k.a.cat) "crunchies" from her bowl ( when he heads to the kitchen I know exactly what is plan is and head him off at the pass).

Smokes was fully flighted. I hadn't had her too long and had her sleeves shortened and took her outside one day. Something spooked her and even being clipped got lift ( about two feet off the ground) and flew from my backyard across the street to crash land in a small bush at the end of my neighbors driveway, only for me to see another neighbors gert do the "hunch down/stalk" mode I SCREAMED at the cat and it took off in the other direction! I was able to scoop Smokey up in my hands as she protested. She never went outside again unless in her cage or pet carrier. But even in the house when she flew it was never more than maybe two feet high.

Our "HRH" is fully flighted and has the muscle mass to prove it. That doesn't mean he is not beyond requesting taxi service at any point during the day. It's likely his way to keep the staff on their toes!

Indeed the royal carriage certainly gets miles on every year! RK twittered sweetly tonight after dinner and his royal tour around the house. Well done driver, well done.

Re: Kevin in Greytown 2.0

In the meanwhile Greytown’s counselor has her hands full....seems the cockatoo who gives tourists the royal tour isn’t completely truthful in his interactions with guests as he guides them while on shoulder transport.

Re: Kevin in Greytown 2.0

The intruder is called “Winnie” and it eats the food of the Kingdom. The servants are doting on it and have only brought the royal chop without the common scratches.

Re: Kevin in Greytown 2.0

A straggler was found after a rainstorm on the road outside and brought to Greyhope hospital ER. Little dove is just a fledgling and the rainstorm was too much. She’s now drying off and hoping to be released soon. She’s hopping around easily now and flapping her wings at rehab.

Kevin took shine to her right away.
