Giggles - Red Crowned Kakariki
Okay I am still getting my way around the forum only joined a few hours ago. Sorry if I post in the wrong section.

So I filled the sink up a little when I let Giggles out. My red crowned parakeet. She is only partly tamed, meaning okay for people to be around and near here but we can't touch or hold her yet. More info in my newbie post as new member.

So I noticed giggle go to the sink and drink some water. Water only high enough to go maybe half way up her legs. She wont go in her cage on her own yet so also wanting to give her access to clean fresh water during the day while she is out.

I went over and splashed her a little, after she finished drinking so she didn't fly off dehydrated. She loved it. I would be lucky to get my hand 5cm from her before she would fly off. When I stopped splashing her she went real close to my hand, almost touching me and waved/stopped her foot at me to keep going. We did this until she had enough bath time and got out. Flying over the place dripping water everywhere. This is her second bath. Her first was yesterday and she landed in the sink, so I got my hubby to turn the tap on, she got a little curious, drank a little and we splashed some water on her before slightly filling the sink.

We only got her Tuesday morning from the breeder and it is little things like this that give me hope she coming around. I know it hasn't been long but sometimes feels disheartening when she keeps flying away from me. But moments like this makes me feel like the bond is forming. I know it takes time and patience and I know in the short time we have made a lot of progress with her. Just need a little more trust to she will perch on us and sit with out.

It's great Giggles is bathing willingly already, wonderful progress. I agree with AmyMyBlueFront, we definitely need photos of Giggles.

Here are some screenshots of her having a bath. When she finishes she jumps out then flies off
