Few non-parrot photos:
I've been in few zoos but in Prague animals have more place than in other zoos which I was. For example giraffes and ostriches:

One part of the zoo is lower and another higher - there's also a ropeway. View from the higher part:

Parrots:
There is built Rakosuv pavilon for rare parrots and some other birds. This is going to be opened this year but unfortunetely now it is closed yet and when I was (2 weeks ago) I couldn't visit it :(
..but there also is Parrot Trail with some uncommon parrots, most lories and lorikeets. To one of the aviaries people can walk in. Sorry for a bad quality of photos, parrots were far :(
Rainbow and scaly breasted lorikeets:

Barraband's parrot:

Swift parrots - critically endangered species

When we were there, it was hot ans sunny, parrots were in part of their aviaries behind glass. I tried to chose the best photos of each species but some of them are still so bad quality :( Parrots from other aviaries:

Vernal hanging parrot:

Sunset lorikeets - there are two subspecies: nominate (I don't know if it has English name, I use Wikipedia)...

file.php

The next parrots (include the second subspecies of the sunset lorikeet) will be in the next post

Oooh nice pics Rozalka, looks like you had a great day!

I showed Lilly Pilly your photos, she liked the lorikeets best (no surprise there!)

New Zoos are building at this larger more open (natural) format. Older Zoos are commonly landlocked with little space to obtain those levels of openness. But are incorporating larger more interactive (natural) spaces as they upgrade their facilities.

Nominates is the standard in which that species members are measured. They are the definition of that species. Transitions (variations in the species) is defined as a sub-species. Hope that this helps.

Loved your photos!!!
Thank You

I know what it means, I've just found the English name - scarlet-breasted lorikeet - this I meant. But writing "nominate subspecies" is correct enough ;)

Oh, wowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!

*I'd* like to live there!
With a privacy curtain and some electronics, of course.
