Hi does any of your birds sit inside their foodbowl? Snowy does that a lot I was wondering whether she thinks of it as a little nest, its springtime here where we live in South Africa, so its not cold, and I do cover their cages at night and if there's a cool draught. Though our breeding seasons usually in winter, but I don't see my other birdies doing it, could be she just finds it comfy? Should I try a new shape perch or something? Like a natural branch, worried it may be her feet are hurting from the round dowels, even though they're large in diametre. Any suggestions?

My bourke parakeet likes to sit in her food dish while she eats. Earlier this year, she did take over a different "treat" dish to lay eggs in, and I allowed her to keep the dish until she was done with the eggs.

Birds should have a variety of perches. Natural wood perches are better than dowel and plastic perches. Having at least one cotton perch would also be ideal.

As for food dish, you might want to consider finding some smaller dishes?
