Rascal - a Galah, 24 years old
Gadget - Indian Ring Neck, 3 months old
Hi there
Yes, this is my first post!
I've grown up with a gorgeous Galah who lives with my parents in the country. She loves going outside everyday and digging up all of dads seedlings! Rascal's 24 years old so I'm no stranger to parrots.
2 weeks ago I bought Gadget - a gorgeous 10 week yellow ringneck. I'm starting to get a bit concerned though. She has in the last 3 days obviously gone into her 'bluffing' stage. She's settled in and either pulling herself off the edge of the table with her on 'strength' hehe or biting at me.
I'm being patient with the Bluffing but my more immediate concern is that she seems overly quiet. She has called out a few times to the Lorikeets and other wild birds that sit in the trees outside but other than that she doesn't make much of a sound.
We had a breakthrough tonight, we had a 'chat' while she ground her beak and I made almost kissing noises. She would make a sound then I would reply. If one of us didn't reply we tilted our heads and waited. It's an old game I used to play with Rascal.
She gets 2 hours classical music from my tablet when I go to work (she knows its time to accept being put back in her cage when the music starts) and I'm thinking of putting a few recordings of my voice on loop but I'm not sure.
Any thoughts as to what I can do to help her gain her voice?
