Picked him up yesterday. I think he's going to be Grey. I'm already in LOVE with his cute little face.

Transition has been a little rough, a lot of stuff is coming back to me though, along with all of the worries of a new parent....is he eating enough? Is he warm enough? Why won't he eat more? Please eat, Apollo!

I keep telling myself to relax. He's new, handfeeding is an entirely new experience for him, and he'll get the hang of it. I can't very well force him to eat if he's not hungry.

So, every 4 hours right now. I let him go 7 hours last night to completely empty his crop and at 430am he ate pretty well. I keep worrying that his crop isn't very firm after eating, it's bulging but squishy soft. He'll get the hang of it, and as long as he keeps eating at each feeding I'm telling myself to relax a little.

It's nerve wracking! It's been a while since I handfed anything but I wouldn't trade this for the world. To have something so small be completely dependent on you for food, love and warmth, it's a heady responsibility.

Here he is. Cute little baby. They said 4 weeks, I feel he's much closer to 3 weeks than 4, but IDK, each bird is different.

Hopefully in the next couple days we'll have a nice little routine worked out.

Thank you! I'm very happy. I'm tired but happy :)

Baby Apollo is finally eating well, I had forgotten that coming straight out of the nest it takes a bit to start learning signals...but he's been eating well & pooping well.

This morning, He was trying to preen himself and he's been making cute chirping noises....

I got him a new heating pad, and of course in my infant haze, purchased the one with the automatic shut off every 2 hours.....so I returned it and bought the one with the automatic shut off every 1 hour....so I returned it and FINALLY bought the one with an automatic shut off override! LMAO. My poor brain is fried!

Sweetie! I'd say grey is a good bet, but there's still a chance he could molt to blue.

Yeah, I was wondering about that, his flight feathers seem charcoal, which I thought was an indicator only found in the greys...but I'm still fumbling my way through the genetics of it all! lol

I breed chickens; blue and grey are the same color! Ha ha ha ha.

Here's a cute video I got of him. He's still very timid, but he comes out of his blanket fort and does some yoga stretches :)

awww, congrats!!....looks like he's smiling, gosh he's adorable.

yup, you got the right heating pad, the one that can remain on, I bought mine at Wal-Mart, they were the only ones that had that type. kind of pricey but well worth it.
All the other ones have the 1-2 hour shut off.

if your hand feeding, and need continuous warmth for the babies, that auto- matic shut off is a royal pain!
