Thinking about an Indian Ringneck

Hi everyone,
First time poster/long time lurker
I don't know much about the prices on these birds but I found a beautiful violet Indian Ringneck at a local pet store (they breed their own birds there) but they are asking 1,098 dollars for him. Includes a free vet visit and I can trim his nails/beak and clip his wings there for life for free.

Just wondering if this is a "good deal" or normal price at a pet store since I see most violets going for 500 dollars online.

Thank you

Anyone know if this is way overpriced? I will have a picture up of him by the end of the day. I fell in love with him at the pet store and he is seriously one of the coolest birds I have had the privilege of meeting. This is not my first bird and grew up living with an African Grey Congo and a Scarlet Macaw.

I found a few breeders who sell their babies for about $500 of the same color. Where are you located? Maybe the prices are different by you.

I thought it was quite overpriced from what I was reading online but I wasn't sure. He is a beautiful bird and its very hard to say "no" but paying 500 dollars more then what you should is very hard to say "yes" to as well...Im in a pickle lol. But I guess if I thought about it like this, there are no violet IRNs for sale in michigan so paying 500+100-150 for shipping and the free vet visit includes blood work, DNA sexing, ect. and I am not positive but I am pretty sure that runs a lot too

Thats so exciting! I wish I was getting mine today!

Violet ones are always more expensive. You could consider another colour maybe that would work out more affordable for you.

I live in Michigan also, and that seems an extremely high price to me. But I don't know what a violet mutation would run. I know regular ring necks go for just a couple hundred bucks or even less. Where did you see the bird?

I found him in Lansing. I know violets are one of the more expensive mutations to buy but he is definitely a one of a kind bird. I have never had a bird warm up to me so fast like this little fella

Its not that the price is really a huge factor. I just don't like getting ripped off and want to make sure that I am getting what I pay for...you know?

Yep I know what you mean! I think the blue ones look very similar to be honest. Check out the videos of marnie the ringneck on you tube. Absolutely beautiful gives kisses and says "you're do cute! Weeee"
