advice please!

hi,
I got a 5 month old soon-to-be-breeding pair of Indian ringnecks last month.
they have both had thier wings clipped before we got them, but the blue male can still fly. the first one i started to train was the male, and he was behaving really well, and so i started training the female. the female is great and really trusting, but the male has recently started behaving like he's never seen a human before. whenever i get him to step up, he flies away, and even if he will stay on me, he insists on sitting on my neck or head and bites or flies away when i try to get him off. I've had to separate them as, the other day, they were both sitting on their perch happily, when the male started biting and attacking the female, to the extent that i had to rush over and catch her as he pushed her off the perch, before we got them they never shared a cage, but the breeder said they should be ok together... i talked to the vet the other day and they said that the male is not scared...( they stayed and tried to train him for a while) he's just gone "a bit rogue"- its their breeding season- and they said to try and harness him, but he freaks out whenever he sees a harness...it also doesn't help that he freaks out when i try to hand feed him... the vet suggested using a leg chain or leash but ONLY for handling....i would NEVER chain him to a perch or sage as i know that is really mean...any advice??? -if i should put a leg leash or parrot jesses on him- what sort should i use?

if you want to breed they won't be tame they will become wild its just how it is sometimes the male will be nice but most likely not and don't EVER use a leg chain ever I would get a new vet asap as that one sounds very uneducated birds have extremly delicate legs and putting anything to hold them down on their legs can be devestating! I never put two birds in the same cage right away I wait a few weeks first letting their cages be next to each other then letting play together outside of the cages and then letting them inside one cage during supervised time and then if all seems well letting them stay in same cage all the time. It takes time to harness a bird and they need to be tame before they will let you put one on if you want to tame them forget about breeding and just start by being by them talking to them and let them get used to a new home and you and when they calm down start letting them out and try to get them to step up for a treat reward.

First of all at 5 months old they're too young for the breeding process! When you introduce birds together it is best to do it slowly not just put into the same cage together thinking they would be ok like the breeder suggested which is not right. How often do you play with them? They WILL go rogue IF you don't socialize them enough while young. It doesn't matter if they're hand fed they will still go wild without proper socialization! Since they're rather new to you. You need to try to spend as much time as possible ith them like 25min intervals and multiple times per day.
