So my breeder just recently updated the pictures of the babies, and I'm so excited! One of the blue babies is mine :) I'm not sure which yet because someone else has first pick, but either way I'm so pumped to watch them grow through pictures!

She has two blues and a violet, and here they are:

Aren't they so precious?! They're 24, 24, and 22 days old, and I cannot wait until the end of May comes! This totally makes up for the mishap with my cage order. Amazon "lost" my cage, or rather didn't realize they were missing pieces until I ordered it. Thankfully it was a quick refund and they're giving me free one day shipping on the next cage I order from them. I had recently ordered a cage and it went perfect, so I was a bit upset this one went the total opposite way.

Oh well! Can't be upset looking at these cuties! Just thought I'd share :)

Waiting is sooo hard! But watching the progress is so awesome. The transformation of altricial chicks is so absolutely mind blowing. One day they're funny little babies, and the next they're a ball of adorable fluff!

I've been watching your cockatiel develop, Mikey, and it's soooo cute! I also love baby pictures :) makes me tempted to scrap book, haha. Especially since I didn't get to see Avery develop, seeing my new baby makes it incredibly personal and special to me :D!

Thanks, everyone! They're the offspring from a visual blue male IRN crossed with a single factor blue violet, so they're super pretty babies :) We were thinking about a violet, and the breeder had offered a $100 discount if there were no blues, but they're still crazy expensive  I've always had my heart set on a blue, though. IRN colours in general are just absolutely gorgeous! :D I'll keep updating photos as the breeder does :)

2 Indian Ringnecks, Tiki (DH's) and Pippin (mine), 1 lovebird, Gemma (DD's) and 1 in birdy Heaven... RIP, Wilbur.
I always thinks it's so funny how they start off looking like ugly little dinosaur babies...and quite quickly grow into our beautiful Indian Ringnecks that we know and love!
I had pictures of mine from hatch day until I picked him up and it was SO cool to watch him grow! He was five hours away from me, so I didn't see him IRL until the day I brought him home, so it was neat to have had the opportunity to see him go through all the stages...
Good luck with your new baby! post updated pics whenever you can! :)

Yeah! The violet is such a gorgeous colour. I wish I could afford it, haha! They look so adorable right now, it's as if nothing is yet proportionate. It's so cute :) My boyfriend and I can't help but be excited!

So the violet costs a lot more?

Here's a better picture of the violet's colour:

3uhudyhe.jpg

The violets cost more because they're a "rare" mutation over in North America. They're quite popular colours over in Australia and the like, but they don't often occur here and lots of times the birds have been imported. On average, violets cost $850 - $1000 here in Canada... Everything in general is just so darn expensive in this winter wonderland (as I'm sure you know, Terry!) when it comes to birds. I wouldn't say they're nearly as popular as pets here, and I think that comes down to sheer human population.

The breeder I'm purchasing from is all about rare colours. She has some truly exquisite breeding pairs and really takes pride in it. I'm really glad I found her :)

And thanks, Stephen! Aren't they just gorgeous? I can't help but fawn over them. Indian Ringnecks are just so gorgeous... I'd say they're basically my dream bird aside from a galah cockatoo! And I won't be able to get a galah for quite some time, so I'm incredibly happy with adding an IRN to my small but slowly growing flock :)

I'm glad to see you so excited :) that's fun. I've seen some beautiful rare mutations with the white head and I think a blue colored body. Not as pets of course. Any of the Ringnecks and it's family are gorgeous.
