I'm not sure if this is in the right place, but I have to share! Long story short, my GCC baby, Titan, is just over 3 weeks old (baby pics of Titan are in another thread) and I have FINALLY secured a nest mate for him. Because Titan's siblings did not make it, and because he had to be pulled at only 2 days old, I wanted him to have an avian companion to help him develope normally. I finally found a three week old IRN from a breeder I know and respect, and the little guy came home today! So I will be posting pics of both here from now on, starting with the pics of the new IRN! name suggestions are welcome! He needs an awesome name, we think he is green, and we think he is male, DNA will come after he gets some feathers.

Here is the pic the breeder sent me

Here is a pic my friend took when she picked him up for me since the breeder and I work opposite schedules

Here are his tiny green feathers!

Snuggling on the ride home!

Baby ringy was crying, Titan ran over to investigate.

Now they each have a nest buddy for the first time :)

Here is a video that my friend sent me on the way home

And a video of Titan froma couple of days ago

Because I am posting all these pictures of babies, I want to make it clear that I do not condone the selling of unweaned babies to pet owners. Raising your own baby does not deepen the bond, in fact I am a strong believer that whenever possible babies should be raised by their parents. However Titan's parents abandoned their clutch, and the new ringy was being raised alone and hand fed by another breeder. He sold to me knowing that I am also a breeder and have the experience to hand feed safely.

Thanks! I am just so in love with them not already that I can hardly stand it! I have planned on adding another IRN for some time, but had planned to simply keep one of the babies my pair produced, but I believe very strongly that the babies will do best togehter, even if they are different species, so THIS is the bird who will be sharing my life now! We have already begun the very foundations of recall training and harness training with Titan and will begin with the new baby very soon!

So yesterday I brought little ringy home (still no name) and they met and were interested in each other. I should mention that the breeder he come from runs a closed aviary, I have other birds from him that I have quarantined and disease tested, but time was of the essence here so I did not quarantine this little guy based on what I know of the flock and the fact that I needed him and Titan to meet ASAP. It is a risk, I know. Anyway, they met and were fine for like an hour, and then little ringy decided to try to eat Titans wing. I get the idea he is not used to things moving that are not food, since he was being. Raised alone. This did NOT please Titan! His tiny little anger was so cute! But he learned to move away when he doesn't like something, and over the rest of the day little ringy learned that if he tries to eat his nest buddy, no one will snuggle him. This is EXACTLY the kind of thing I wanted them to learn from each other! Today they are inseparable!

Some very adorable babies there!!! :)

I won't be having babies anymore probably unless someone brings me some to hand feed so I'm only able to look at other's babies now.... :(

LoL.....yes it gives me more freedom but I do enjoy watching the babies grow and teach them and stuff. Due to doctors orders I had to rehome many of my birds. I'll be down to 10 after all is said and done. If I get sick again, I dunno what I'll do cause they'll give me the song and dance again to get rid of more. I'm kinda refusing to do more....lol

Oh no! I'm afraid of having bird related health problems in the future, it seems like many long time bird lovers seem to suffer from lung issues. I'm trying to increase the. Umber and quality of my air filters, and I would ultimately like to get a rainbow cleaning ing system for the carpets and fabrics in the house. When I was a kid I shared my bedroom with cockatiels, budgies, Quakers, finches, canaries, and the offspring of most of them, and suffered from a near constant "cold" that I now feel was likely due to dust from the birds and the seeds (yes, a primarily seed diet, I didn't know better).

I wish I had a picture of it, but as of this morning they were actually preening each other :) im so glad to see them developing socially together, I was quite worried as Titan was completely alone. With a flock this large, a bird who cannot safely interact with other birds is quite the inconvenience so I really want to do everything in my power to help him develop normally.

Growing baby, so much less naked!

Training the cat and the kid (done very carefully, and I'm not suggesting you do it!)

Helping me post!

Snuggle buddies! They lay with their wings like this all the time

I love them! My friend who has more experience with IRNs thinks there is reason to believe that there is a good chance Koa is male. I am waiting to DNA either until Koa is fully featheres, or almost fully feathered.

They are precious!!! I've never handled such a wee little one before, I don't know how you do it! I'd be so afraid I might crush them :(

More pictures please!
