Hello I have a baby indian ringneck parrot 8 weeks old and I see he has a piece of skin on his right eye.

Have you ever seen this before?

I tried to take it off but it is like a skin and I was afraid to hurt the parrot.

Thank you for your help.

Welcome to the forums. :) What a cute IR you've got there!

It's quite difficult to make out in the photos (even in the HR ones), but is it possible the third eyelid is semi unattached? In any case, please do not 'fiddle' with it, but instead I'd recommend taking your baby to an avian vet to have the eye evaluated properly. Parrots need all 3 of their eyelids. :)

Thank you for your response.

Yes, in photos look like his eyelid is unattached but personally I don't think is so.
It's just a piece of skin (looks like a piece of thread) that is on top of his eye.

When he close the eye I can see that is inconfortable for him.

I attached another photo that is more visible (don't look at his beak, he was on eating session :) )

Monday I will go to talk with an avian vet.

Again, thank you so much for your response.

Yes, it's definitely quite visible in the last picture. My female yellow nape Amazon had a recurring "Xanthoma" on her third eyelid, and my Avian vet kept removing it. Luckily it hasn't returned for the past 2 years (knock on wood) He had to actually remove 'part' of the third eyelid in order to do so. I don't think your baby's 'thing' is a Xanthoma though. I've never seen anything like it, but I can see why it would bother him. :)

Good luck with him, he sure looks precious! Please let us know what the vet does.

Sometimes that can be caused by foreign objects like food particles that cause a bit of eye irritation/infection. I treated with vetericyn and got rid of it before. But it is best to have a vet to check them.
