If I'm not mistaken the ring should start forming shortly before he turns 2.

does a vet do it ? and how much time does it take ?
The only way to know for sure before the ring appears is to have them DNA'd.

Most of us have had our birds DNA tested if we know their sexes as most birds you cannot tell any other way (macaws, amazons, conures there are no visual differences in the sexes)

that means almost 1 hr and half travelfor 3 mins
I wish I was that close to our vet, it is 75 KM for us.
Is it back roads for you for it to take that long to get there?
