Male vs. Female

Sponsored Links
As far as IRN's go.
Is there a difference in behavior or personality (generally speaking)?
Also what about talking? I love the IRN voices but I have noticed that almost ALL of the videos out there are of MALE IRNs talking. Do females speak like the males?

Re: Male vs. Female

I am curious myself on this. It's on my list of possible future birds. I don't really care if they mimic much...I just want to hear the muppet voices

Re: Male vs. Female

Generally speaking

Males are better talkers
Females have mad trick skills if you teach them
Females are considered harder but honestly if you give the bird the life it deserves the females can be just as sweet
Females are often less expensive due to a terrible lie about them not making good pets
Females do not have the ring.

Re: Male vs. Female

I hope it is ok to open this conversation again as I notice there was only one response with specific information. I am on a list with a breeder for an IRN. I had originally decided on a male but was told by the breeder that females are actually in many ways calmer than males. I understand speaking ability is individual to the bird and that overall much of a birds behaviors depend on early socialization and general personality. That being said, I have been doing my best to do research and only found one source that said females are calmer than males. Like the person above, I watched as many videos as I could and was struck that most are males. Can those who have females or knowledge of females vs. males please comment so that I can make a decision. There is a female available in the next few weeks. If I want a male I would go on the list for eggs currently in the nest but of course no one will know for some time what sex they are and I will be at the end of the waiting list. I am more than willing to wait for the right IRN. I would love a bird that will learn to talk and am more than willing to spend all the necessary time to help it develop. Personality and general demeanor of a bird is more important to me as I have 5 grandchildren. They will not handle a bird without supervision but I don't want a bird that might be generally or frequently prone to aggression. Thanks in advance for you help.
