My lutino IRN

This is our pretty baby lutino IRN who is around 7 months old as we're told. He's hand reared and traveled 6-7 hours to us alone in the trunk from the other country. There wasn't a single lutino hand reared IRN at that time available for purchase anywhere in my country so we got it that way. We don't know yet if it's a male or female, we didn't do DNA test and don't know where to do it here. He's very accustomed to people and will step up, go be on our shoulder all the time,eat anything from the hand and loves to cuddle. Well now more it's loved to cuddle. Recently he started biting when being touched. Well mostly me, he won't let me cuddle him anymore, just on very rare occasions and just a bit but will ask for cuddles from my bf :33: that started annoying me and I don't know why he doesn't like me to touch him but will allow my bf. He hangs out with me regularly other than that, never bites when I offer him food, even tiniest seed he will take out from fingers without biting but as soon as I go over his head there goes beak strike again...Now he started biting my bf too, but mostly when I'm around and he touches him lol I think he's being frustrated because of me so anyone has any idea why this is so?
Also if you're an IRN owner or know this anyway, is it possible to determine their sex at this age by their behavior? At first I noticed him doing head bobbing and regurgitating and doing mostly male dance of jumping around somethings, eyes pinning and having heart shaped wings so I concluded he must be a male. But now when he/she cuddles he mostly cuddles like a hen, it's quite hard to describe, I have videos of his cuddle time at first month and now, it changed a bit. He still doesn't move head like hens do when are asking for cuddle but still does cluck like a hen so I'm really confused lol he will show these both behaviors in a matter of minutes so it's hard to say anything for sure which is why I'm asking if someone had IRN who also displayed behavior of both sexes at young age. I reckon you'll have to wait and see to confirm gender. I have an eye pinning heart wing making...male with a very obvious ring
IRN's are stereotypically not cuddly birds. Henry loves shoulder time, and when he's feeling affectionate he'll line his beak up alongside my nose, but I can't physically lift a finger and stoke him. That's his boundary and it's my job to respect that.
Has he had an injury or fall at all?

Not really, but now that you mention it he did scorch his foot a bit once, flew of from my shoulder and landed on hot cooktop but it was for a second and I moved him right from it, he just touched it with 1 foot, he held that foot up for a bit and touched it with his beak for a while but that wasn't longer than half an hour and didn't have anything visible changed on it, moved perfectly fine and didn't spare that foot anymore

That is a stunningly beautiful bird! I know nothing of IRNs, but many birds will display Jeckyl/Hyde personalities as though a switch was flipped!

If hes biting at the moment might be called a bluffing phase. My IRN dose not like my hand in the cage so I open it and say wanna play? Then he comes out.

A few things that I noticed.

You need a larger cage. The one hes in, is way to small for a IRN. Also, watch the treats you give him. Peanuts are my IRN favs but in moderation, they are high in fat.

I hope hes on a pellet diet to! Make sure hes getting fresh veggies.

With the position of the last picture, I actually wouldn't be surprised if your "he" was really a "she", but it's just a guess based on the same things you've mentioned. It appears quite hen-like. I can't say my male has ever once assumed that position and he loves to be cuddled, though he's certainly not a perfect case to base it off of. Silversage would know best as she's quite the expert on IRNs!

Your IRN is beautiful though, I love the vibrancy of Lutinos.

First thank you all on compliments, he/she is a real beauty, I've always loved lutinos, somehow special beautiful to me at least but I'd also love to have one of each color, all of them are so pretty and those with color combinations too, I just prefer clean color for IRN's but some combos are too adorable also
Now about peanuts he gets them occasionally, and he wasn't eating well for longer time so we would offer anything he likes to eat something. Still while we're not at home he eats very little of seeds. Also he has fresh veggies and fruits every day, I'm trying to offer anything I think of and see in shops here that is in safe list ofc. Found a safe food list on another forums for IRN's.
For cage this was the largest one that was a quality one when we bought it, it was a short notice when we were getting him so all shops we visited had limited options of cages to offer. We loved another one that was much bigger than this one but it was clearly made for more smaller birds. Doors were too small for him to begin with, feeders adjusted for small birds too(he wouldn't be able to get his head into those outside of cage feeders) but we would change them to bows if doors weren't that small. We will get him a new larger cage later and probably a company of another IRN. This cage was ok size but not ideal I agree. It needs more space for more toys in it too. For now he likes it though, he's become territorial about it, doesn't like hands in it lol

You can get a cage online like eBay.com for about $130-150 and a pet store would sell the same one for $300-350

Here is a bit different situation with prices, they aren't that expensive and you can also find used cages in great condition for good deal so in the end it doesn't pay of to buy it on ebay because there are taxes and fees to pay at customs here that drastically increase price which can go over the price at store in the end. And I need to check laws first if we can even get it here as there are some stuff for animals and plants that are not allowed at all to buy like that

Here we are again after some time away from this forum I'd like to ask few questions if someone can help me with this. So situation is this: bird lives with my bf, I'm there almost as much as he is BUT bird at first wasn't much of a biter anyway but would occasionally bite him but not me.We cuddled him/her and he/she enjoyed it always but after some time s/he just started biting me whenever I try to approach with my hands toward his/her head.When my bf does it no problem at all.He can cuddle it, handle it whatever he likes, grab it in his hands, bird has nothing against it but God forbid I try doing anything like that!I get bitten immediately! Even if I approach to cuddle bird while he's cuddling it as soon as s/he realizes it's me it's hissing and biting all over again! And on the other hand bird will hang out with me, stay on my shoulder, come to my hand when going out of cage, stand on my hand preening, eat even tiniest seeds carefully from my hand without a single bite ever but as soon as my hands go toward his head it's all hissing and biting. Wtf is with that? I gave him/her chia seeds from my fingers s/he takes it carefully not to bite with his tongue only and everything I described clearly shows s/he doesn't have a fear of hands that is usual with them so s/he just don't let me touch him/her for what ever reason.And what reason can that be and how can I make that situation better for me? I don't want a bird I have to be alarmed not to bite me. If I try to take something next to him/her s/he also will hiss at me and try biting so what can I do about all that?By behavior for now I think we have a female, few days ago it seemed to me s/he's trying to make a nest. Tried hiding under blanket and a pillow and when I uncovered and got close s/he bit be pretty badly again...

Your IRN is a young bird, going through maturity called bluffing. Please read the forum on IRNs and get some step by step advice. What I do know in brief is to keep steady with training and routine. Learn body language and respect when your baby doesn't want handling. It is a period of time that will pass, though.

yes I'm aware of bluffing stage but from what I read about it so far it shouldn't last this long.It's already 4-5 months lasting and I never read parrot will be aggressive towards one person only but not against another. Well today he fought against us both in fact not just me. He just has some bad days where he just bites and screams majority of the day which concerns me a bit. He was entirely different bird for some time when we just got him from what he is now and to be honest I really don't like this new temper that lasts longer than that kind one lasted. We bought a hand reared bird because of that reason to have a nice tamed and cuddly bird that isn't though to handle. I've had parrots since I was a child but this is my first IRN and in my entire life I haven't been bitten as much as I am now and I'm honestly quite disappointed in this. You can't train him when as soon as I talk to him from close distance he fluffs his head, pins his eyes and just waits for me to get a bit closer to bite me. I know this behavior very well that it means warning before a bite but how do I stop him from this? I don't want to be let known I'll be bitten if I get any closer, I want him to stop biting. I do nothing to him to provoke such behavior, as a matter of fact I did nothing but care for him, bring treats, clean cage and provide transportation between rooms lol) but this keeps repeating whenever I try anything to get closer. He's standing on my arm preening, as soon as I start talking to him or just looking at him, he starts making that warning noise, puffing his head feathers and pinning his eyes, not just pinning but blinking, he even starts to shake sometimes during such behavior so I'm just like wtf? I can't look at a bird to not upset him, come on?! Again from all what I read about bluffing stage this doesn't appear to me like a usual bluffing so any advises are welcome...

Actually you need to be patient with your birdie. It may be something you do which he/she is not liking and apparently is getting angry on that. I believe your bird is female cause I have a pair of ringnecks too 3 months old and I have hand reared them since they were 2 weeks. Now female is going through bluffing stage in my case also. Male seems to adjust to everyone but female is biting whenever she gets angry even running behind male to bite him. Just give your bird some space and let time pass by I believe everything will become normal again.

White Female, Turquoise Male, Olive Green Male, Violet Female

According to my guess its a Female
Do you know its parents color.
If its mother is yellow(lutino) and father different color then its mostly female

I don't know that really, I asked a breeder once about that when I saw some options for colors in breeding to see if I can maybe guess by parents but she didn't know from which couple he was actually, has more of them and it was maybe six months after he hatched so don't have that information.My guess by this behavior is also that it might be a female but he's truly confusing bird.I even made a video of him dancing as male, making heart shape wings with pinned eyes etc.He has a foot fetish I guess lol so he does this to seduce feet lol and it's perfect male behavior.But based on this attacking and way of cuddling it appears to be female so I truly have no clue what it will turn out to be lol is it possible that a hen would do the perfect mating behavior of male IRN? I mean heart shaped win, the way he moves, bows etc...
