Is your IRN super laid back and QUIET most of the day???

How active would you say your IRN is and how often do they make noise???

I know all birds are different but of course but the reason I ask is because the IRN we rescued is SUPER DUPER quiet and very very laid back. My tiel named Coconut is MUCH more difficult to handle and MUCH more work than that IRN!!! I would have thought that an IRN is more difficult to manage than a tiel... I mean normally?

I was there for 3 hours again today and he didn't make a single peep... NOTHING! He was also fine just chilling out on my shoulder or sitting still and preening. He seems to be a very easy bird! In the evenings the lady says he comes to life and says "what you doing" and "peekabooo".

Is your neighbour going to be okay relinquishing him to you? Sounds like she's getting attached, although I guess her schedule doesn't give him much time. I've heard from my breeder that IRNs do need to be socialized well to stay tame and well mannered. I love updates on this bird. Are you thinking of any names? When would you get to take him. I mean, yes, of course I hope the owner steps forward, but then we'd never hear more, lol.

Oh yes the lady 100% knows she cannot care for the bird long term because she works too much. She just wants what is best for him... so that's not an issue at all

Since my name is Juliet she named him Romeo LOL

In below link to my post in another thread explains what the situation is right now in regards to the IRN... I found a great plan B today mentioned in below link just incase me taking care if the IRN does not work out... he has at least about 3 weeks of quarantine left at her house... but even if I did end up taking him to my house I still want him to go to her house in the afternoons on some days so I can get a break LOL... plus then she can spend time with him. She got very happy when I told her there might be a girl who is very good who might be able to adopt him she got very happy... she wants what is best for him. She will miss him but of course but we both want what his best for him. She lives a 1 minute walk from my house.... she is basically across the street so it's easy for me to take her the bird whenever

Below explains Plan B:
How to keep tiels safe from IRNs???

My IRN was extremely quiet initially until he got used to his new home and me.

It's funny you say that because I have a very strong feeling that would be the case with this IRN. He is still very much uneasy but is improving each time I see him.

some birds are just more chilled out than others. I have wild ringnecks in my little estate in the trees and they don't make a peep except for the morning and evening

Yes I know Rascal is EXTREMELY laid back and mellow... whereas my other tiel 'Nut NEVER sits still and is SUPER hyper... he has fire ants up his butt 24/7! LOL

... so I guess that IRN we rescued is just a mellow guy which I'm actually thankful for if I'm going to be trying to care for him... as I have my hands full with my 2 tiels right now at this time in my life. It should be interesting to see how things are going to work out

I guess I was trying to find out if in general IRNs are considered to be more laid back than a GCC for example....

Floyd has spurts of energy, then he'll take a nap, and zoomies (explores by flying into different rooms and playing 'Where's Floyd?' with us) around the house before bed.
