Help needed with my New intimidated IRN

I would appreciate the help of the experts here with IRN's.

Last Thursday I have brought home my new (hand fed) Blue IRN, about 4 months old.
I bought it from a private seller (not the actual breeder) and when I was at his house I held the IRN on my hands and she was very quiet and not biting at all but also looked intimidated.

First day she was home, she was very quiet and barely moving. She stood at one place in the cage and was very afraid. It is now the third night home, and she already adapted her self to her new surrounding. she eats and climbs all around the cage. she also already plays with all the toy's in the cage and even makes some noise and also so called talking to her self...

BUT...

1. She mostly does all that when I am in an other room or out of home.
Well, if I enter the room where her cage is, she stops playing and talking etc...

2. On the second day home, when I tried to approach her cage trying to hand her a treat, she right away ran back to a back corner of the cage and she keeps on runing to back of the cage when ever I come too close.

Well, I know that parrots need their time to observe their new home. I also know that most people would say, don't try to force her out of the cage etc...
Actually, I also left the cage door open for hours during the day on Saturday, but she didn't show any interest of coming out.

She is a hand fed parrot but I guess that the seller didn't provide her with much attention and now she is afraid of me, despite the fact that when I am not around her cage she feels very happy already.

What and how should I do, in order to gain her trust and make her wanna come to me or at least want to receive the treat that I offer her through the bars of her cage? and How long would it take to have her finally wanna come to me?

Okay, you have a young IRN that is about '4' short months old, correct? In addition, you purchased this IRN from a third party that 'told you' that it was 'hand feed,' but as we both know, that could mean nothing, right?

What to do now!

- Assume you have been totally lied too! That none of it is true and that other than your IRN being young that is all you really know!
- I hope that what encouraged you to 'buy' this Parrot was not the Cheap Price!
- Start with assuring that your IRN has tons to eat, all the time! Any problem in not eating and its rush to the CAV (Certified Avian Vet) to assure that your young IRN is in fact eating! If not your CAV will show you how to hand feed your Parrot.
- Assure that you have a CAV near by, if not a then find a AQV (Avian Qualified Vet). Make an appointment to have your young IRN receive a 'new' Parrot examination including a full blood screen.

With what you have provided in your Thread, please tell me why you believe that this very young IRN that has been passed around who knows how many individuals before you should be anything less than Intimidated? Scared out of its little head would come in to my mind.

After you have assure that your IRN is eating to its complete comfort, its time for you to start working with this Parrot as if you are the first Human that it has ever seen!

- Sit very close to your IRN, Read several of the Threads in the IRN section out-load in a comforting voice to your Parrot. Do this for several hours each day for several days and whenever you have reading that you want or need to do. Parrots do not care!!! They only see this as getting use to you (at first) and spending time with you (later).

- There is not a reason this Parrot should trust you!!! Your goal is to assure that ONLY good things happen when Humans are around!

- Interaction Rule #1: Its NEVER the fault of the Parrot! Its is ALWAYS the fault of the Human! Taking this position assures that you more quickly see what you are doing WRONG and quickly correct it!

Remember that this Parrot has no reason to trust you! What you Want is Not what your Parrot Wants. It only wants to feel safe in this new strange place! You need to bring that to a reality!

- Parrots practice when we are not in the room! Very common with near all Parrots!

- None of this is About You or What You want! This is all about providing your Parrot with a very comfortable World! Place your expectations in a very large box and place it is the trash!
