Hi everyone my ringneck is 6 weeks old on formula 3 times a day but recently she doesn’t seem to be interested in formula, I’m a newbie to birds so can I introduce fruits and veg to her and how do I prepare them

I'm guessing you've bought this bird from a breeder? If possible take them back to be weaned, hand feeding is in short DANGEROUS and you need to be extremely clued up on how to do it otherwise you can inadvertently kill the chick

what temp is the food? Is their crop emptying between feeds? Are they gaining weight? Have you got a brooder? Are you spoon feeding or using a syringe? Is the syringe the same style as the breeders? Are you warming the syringe before offering feeding? Are they 100% eating the food or is it going in the lungs?

You get the gist of how much of an undertaking hand-feeding is just from that alone and there are hundreds more things that can go wrong which is why I say it will be better to bring them back to the breeder and make them finish weaning the chick. They won't bond any less to you so if they try to feed you that don't take it

Hi there thanks for your feedback, I actually purchased from a pet store, I use a syringe to feed and I’ve been doing it for the past two weeks. When I first got her she had very little feather and now she has almost all. Her crop does empty between feeds. She has gained weight. She is kept warm in a box with a blanket.

where abouts are you located? Seems odd for a pet store to do that

either way I would take them back. It's their job to wean the chicks

ah right okay, mainly asking because in some places it's illegal to sell an unweaned bird, trying to spread the word to people to report places breaking the law.

Outside of what I've said all I can say is to take them to a certified avian vet and to just keep offering foods. Weigh them every day before their morning feed to check the weight is going up. If it's going down then they need to be taken to the vet immediately
