What percentage of IRN's learn to talk?

My IRN is almost 9 months old now and I've heard that between
8-12 months is usually when they begin to talk if they're capable.

I just bought a device that records speech and plays it back at 15
minute intervals and it seems to be catching my IRN's attention lol.

However I realize that there is also the possibility my IRN may never
talk but I'm unsure what the odds are of that happening.

Does anyone know how likely it is that IRN's will talk as a rough percentage?

I doubt there is actual data on that but I have a flock of about 30 IRNs right now. All the males raised inside mimic at least a little and two of the females are pretty good mimics as well.

Look into how to encourage talking in your bird. You can’t control it but you can influence it.

Wow SilverSage, do you breed them? How many birds do you have?

realistically when looking at yours it'll come down to 50/50. Either he will talk or he wont, look at the amount of greys people have that never utter a word or the female Tiels who like to chat away

As Silversage says, there is unlikely to be any real scientific data.
Both of my IRN's, and our lovebird are talkers.
Henry's first owner took him into work, where he taught automotive engineering, every single day. One of the reasons he was rehomed was that his mimicing ability beginning to show and those boy's didn't have the cleanest of mouths! We made sure we kept the language rich environment going. They mimic what is around them - plenty of sneezes, beeps, kisses and squeaky doors in this case along with the language!

Clarke talks up a storm, I assume through having Henry talk to him all of the time. Once those two are on a roll with each other, (shared cage), there is no chance of peace and quiet so I guess it was only natural that the lovebird would start up too. He's very cute, in his comical high pitched voice!

The key for all three has been a strong, language rich environment. Talk Talk Talk, play movies, and watch that microwave beep!

Yes I raise them. The number of birds we have varies greatly as babies come and go as well as our rescue and foster babies.

Thanks everyone, I'm not sure if I'm losing my mind but I feel like
I've heard him saying thank you when I've given him treats lol.

I don't think he's heard me use that word though so I'm probably just imagining it.

Whenever the machine plays back my voice I hear my IRN making noises,
they don't really sound like anything at the moment but do you think this
could be him trying to imitate the machine?

Could be! Recently one of my birds learned to yell at one of my other birds, by name!
