Of course I took her home! Owner had failing health so she was given to the shelter. I paid $125 and she came home with me today with a cage too! She's very skiddish, doesn't seem to like hands or even being near us. They said she's 14. This isy first ring neck species so I'll be reading up on them tonight! She's settling in in her own room for now till the quarantine is up and she can meet her new flock. Vet appointment Soon. She's beautiful yes?

Thanks guys! I was kinda thinking I shouldn't get her but around here I hardly ever see a chance to pick up an Indian ringneck nearby. It's the first I've seen for sale anyway. And she will be happy once she settles in. She's pretty spooked so we are taking it slow! Any advice I'd appreciate!

What a pretty bird. ^^
And how nice of you to give her a new, loving home. It's always a shame when people have to give up any pet due to health, but at least we know this one has a new home.

Here's some fresh pics. She came out and found the Apple I laid out for her. She is missing a claw and another appears to be permanently twisted like a hammer toe! She let me clip her, well, not really let but she didn't fuss too much.

She's so clever:). What example of resistance, resilience and perseverance. Even with a hurt foot she can still pick up that food! Her colour is delightful aswell.:yellow2:

She must prefer to use her other foot to perch, as she only seems to use her deformed foot to hold food. She does have a problem gripping bigger things like that slice of apple, she has to find the sweet spot where she gets a good grip. She perseveres!

I fell in love with her eyes, they are so pretty and easy to see eye pinning. My others all have dark eyes and can't really see their pupils very well.

She came with the name "peanut brittle" but I don't like it. I am torn between changing it and leaving it, as she is 14 so it would be tough changing it. Is it unfair to change it? Or maybe I can make a nickname that sounds similar. I had a sun conure named peanut and he tragically got a head injury and passed on me so her name is a reminder of a beautiful sunny I didn't get the chance to bond very much with. His time with me was short.

We are making progress, she still won't let me get my hands close but it's still very early. Last night while opening her cage she decided I was too scary and got out so I just calmly followed her around till I could get her, finally had to throw a towel to catch her (she's fast). so I gently picked her up and she seems to be familiar with the towel and wasn't terribly shaken. I held her as she bit the towel for a minute, I baby talked to her for awhile and she stopped struggling. I started trying to get my finger close to rub her beak and she would open her beak to warn me but what surprised me was when I did get too close she barely grabbed my finger with her beak and just gently kept biting ever so softly. Then she stopped and I got to give her beak a little rub! I let her go to see if I could get her to perch on me at all and she climbed to my shoulder. I was a little nervous my ear would get a bite but she didn't! I let her stay for a few minutes then I let her hop back in her cage. She's gonna be a sweetie I think.

Would you call her a lutino? Are they pretty common?

I see a lot of videos online and their voices are beautiful, can I expect a female to be so vocal?
