My 4 month old ringneck has lost his tail feathers only, but i have not seen any regrowth. Is it because he is young and the regrowth is taking longer then usual. He didn't lose all the tail feathers at once

Has he been tested for PBFD?

Did they fall out, break, or get pulled out?

No he has not been tested.
And its hard to tell if they fell out or were broken like they used to get lose and then fall out without any blood on them.

Well you need to get him tested right away. Ringnecks are particularly susceptible to PBFD and the test is only $25.

It could just be normal feather loss from activity or it could be PBFD. All parrots should be tested for PBFD, Polyoma, and Psittacosis when they get to their new homes.

It wouldn’t be because of the new house, it would be from a prior infection.
