Exclamation Too mich love for parrot

Is it possible that too much love can make a parrot a very angry and annoyed parrot keeping in mind i only pet him when he is in the mood but i have had him since he was 3 weeks so i have treated him like my child i cant live without him but me goin for 20 day has made him sort of anoued with me he bites me to the point that i bleed. And he is only 5 months old right. And i have had him for more than a week now since i came back from traveling. Plz help me i want my old parrot.

Re: Too mich love for parrot

I've heard a few people say that IRN's need regular handling to stay tame.
So if this is the case you probably need to earn his trust again.

Edit: This is just a guess but judging from another thread you've made
it could also be possible that he is ill and acting out of character
because of this.

Good point, Crayfish! Yes, let's eliminate medical problems first! Do you have a Certified Avian Vet? If not, here is a way to find one...

Regular vets often "wing it" with birds, although some are very dedicated and talented.
And here are some tips on general bonding. I agree, you may need to sort start over.

Re: Too mich love for parrot

Thanks for both of your advise but i think my parrot is still tamed he is not affraid of me sometime he might try to bite my arm and i give my arm a little shake after the shake my parrot comes running for my face idk why sometimes he would just be sitting on my shoulder he would just go for my face.

Re: Too mich love for parrot

Have a wee forum search for bite pressure training.
Also, maybe he's just not in the mood I think if you ask a parrot to step up, the expectation is that they step up. But, watch his body language. Is he sleepy when you're trying? Does he look like he wants out? With out 5 month old rescue, we opened his cage door and just left it like that. It was soon pretty obvious when he wanted human attention, and by watching his behavior and being aware of his terms, he was able to build trust in us must more quickly.

At five months old, it could be just his bluffing stage.
