my bird has had a hot beak for 2 days now. When i put my finger to his beak i can feel the heat bouncing off my baby. His / her beak is hot and when he put his tongue on my finger i could feel hot breath. His feet is warm too.

He is eating and moving around normally and He is active he has been playing with his foot toys today so nothing different has changed here. I give him a shower spray using mist bottle today and he dried pretty quickly. House is not too hot just right.

His poop is green with a bit of white in it. Is there anything i should do or look out for. ?

I have never felt his beak this warm since i have had him so i have noticed something new which is why i am concerned.

Something else new that i noticed is the way he sleeps. He has always slept with his head over his shoulder tucked into his feathers but now when he sleeps he droops his head down, is this normal ?

Gabbana is 21 weeks old. Still a baby. He eats the parrot mixture of seeds, nuts etc, he loves apple and broccoli which are his favourite. He has kale/ spinach leaves, and has had a couple of blueberries today too just to add.

He has not ate anything different hmm. Any ideas ?

B&G Macaw, Galah, 5 cockatiels, 50 billion and a half budgies. We breed and do rescue. Too many to list each individual's name and age etc, but they are each individuals and loved dearly.
I would probably make a vet appointment. Temperature plus droopy head sleeping is worth havig checked out.

Hot feet are a sign of a temp in parrots, except if they have been flying and playing hard
The head droop my Ta-dah had when she was sick.
Extra green poop can happen when they aren't eating enough, or have liver inflammation, or bacterial, or yeast imbalance.
All signs you should have an avain vet check out.
You g birds get sick easier
Birds hide being sick , so theses are good clues you picked up on.

I noticed him sleeping on his perch with his head down which is unusual for him but then that could of been because he was warm so it was too hot to put his head into his feathers ( possibly ) i have kept a look out to see if he is still doing this and he has reverted back to tucking his head into his feathers so i will see how he gets on.

I felt his beak before i put him to bed and it was a lot cooler than earlier including his feet. He is out flying and playing with foot toys when i notice this so wondering if it is due to exercise. His breathing appears to be fine. No panting.

Regarding the green poop what colour should it normally be for healthy poop ? I thought it was black when it was a kidney problem / bleeding.

He eats quite a lot and has a range of different things so how would one know if he is receiving enough when he is given a lot and eats a lot ? I'm worried now. He appears to be fine other than the hot beak now and then.

What do you feed your ring necks ?

I will keep a watch on him in the next 24 hrs if he appears hot again i'll phone his vet and see whether they recommend bringing him in. Thanks for your posts i'll keep you all updated.

As only a cautionary tale.
I lost my Burt The Bird, she was playing, seemed to eating fine, was not fluffed, was not sleeping more, did not have hot feet, poops normal. I fed her treats by hand, gave her head petting. I we t outside to my garden for two hours, I came back and she had passed. Birds hide being sick
The only symptom she had was one drop if clear liquidin her nostril. As she only had one functional nostril since a baby. ( Aspiration scari g from hand feeding at breeders) and had sinius infections off and on during her life. The last one being six years before. But I knew I would take her I to vet the next day. I didn't get the next day......:( You would not have known this bird was so sick she was about to die. She did indeed have a massive infection.....:(
I share this because I want to stress how well birds hide being sick.
If you notice this thingsS
like you have, I say better to spend the money at the avain vet and be told your bird is healthy, than wait and see and have a dead bird.. .
The head hanging down is the big one for me, I've never seen a healthy bird do that. I have seen my past sick bird, and other sick birds do that.
I hope all is fine but at least you have my story too

I really appreciate your honest feedback but gabanna is fine. He no longer has a hot beak or feet. I researched into this and there was quite a lot that has hot beaks and warm feet. I am suggesting it could of been through flying as he was out that day, and then playing with his foot toys and he had a bath so maybe that was his body temperature risen due to his bath.

I am not concerned about him hanging his head a little to sleep. He was actually on his outdoor perch play table when he took a nap and he fell asleep and he lowered his head to sleep. When in fact this proves that he very comfortable and feels safe around us to do that. There was actually a photo on this forum who won the photo competition for there parrot sitting on his shoulder sleeping with it's head down hanging over his chest. Since he has only been seen doing this once it's not something he has continued to do. I watched him last night while sleeping he was sleeping his normal way. Not concerned to be honest regarding that.

I totally understand how animals are very good at hiding sickness. I have 3 pet guinea pigs who are great little things at doing this therefore i am always cautious of these things and a trip to the vet is not a problem nor the money.

I just don't feel it is required. He does not have a runny nose, or sore eyes, or rapid breathing, he does not have his beak open, he is not panting, he is not fluffed up, he is active, he is tweeting, moving round his cage, sitting in his normal position, not sitting at the bottom, not lifeless or acting slightest bit strange. He is eating absolute fine, Eating frequently, shouting me to get out of his cage right now, but due to the fireworks i have kept him in this evening.

He comes out every day from 10am till 6am so he is use to his routine. I think in your case there was a sign your bird was sick ( a runny nose ) this is a sign of a respiratory infection. I don't have any signs of anything to confirm i should be running him to the vet.

I do appreciate all concerns and believe me i am not being silly or neglecting my bird. I am more than capable of noticing the signs of a sick bird having 3 birds plus other pets previous to him in order to rush to the vet. my only concern was his warm beak and feet as i had not seen that before.

After reading on google that a lot of birds do have warm beaks and feet and now there no longer hot then i don't see the need to act on this. Not unless it was occurring and he just was not himself.

If a animal is sick the signs are there no matter what. You just have to look for them and one knows there animal well enough to notice the difference in there little self, just like i did notice the hot beak.
