Mango the Indian Ringneck and Peach the Cockatiel; Kiwi found a new home
Generally, the birds all get let out of their cages to play around in their play area on top of the their cages when someone is home. The Budgie, Kiwi, has taken a liking to flying into the room where I keep my bonded IRN, Mango, and Cockatiel, Peach. He will even dive bomb through a narrowly cracked door to get in, or take the long way around through a hallway. When there, he seeks out either Mango or Peach and gets in their face, chatting away. He will spar lightly with Peach, but Mango will take a full lunge at him and causally continue to pursue. Kiwi is quick, but I'm sure some day Mango will get him and that will be it. The situation is getting more dramatic since Kiwi can mimic all of Mango's and Peach's sounds, and there ends up being a calling match across the house. Kiwi is not really my bird, but I feel bad for him being alone (away from the other birds anyway) in the living room, and since he is flighted and unbonded, he is difficult to work with. I'd like for them to all get along and I've brought in Kiwi's play perch, but he still prefers to pester Mango and Peach. It takes a few minutes to get him to fly "out" of the room back to his play perch.

Here he is trying to take over Mango's bath time. One good thing though is that since he's seen the other birds eating their chop, he's given it a try and seems to like it, but only seems to pick at what's on Mango's and Peach's cage, not what's in his cage.

B&G Macaw, Galah, 5 cockatiels, 50 billion and a half budgies. We breed and do rescue. Too many to list each individual's name and age etc, but they are each individuals and loved dearly.
Haha that's that classic budgie sass. Gotta love it. They have more sass than sense, and those darn things are ever so clever too. <3

Fyi I've had more than one budgie clever enough to figure out how to get thru a closed door. And getting up in their faces with all his bad self is *such* a classic boy budgie thing to do. I love it.

You could try getting him a budgie friend, but that might not do it. Almost every budgie I've ever had has been obsessed with my senior tiel, Alex. Alex *hates* the little guys, but they just are all obsessed with him. *shrug* Something about a slightly larger bird that hates them is just too much to resist for the puny sassmachine that is a budgie. :D

Who does he think he is? A perfect little dinosaur with unlimited rights and entitlements, of course. Now, be a good human and do your duty! lol

Not that I really know what that should be, but I'm pretty sure I shouldn't let Mango be going after Kiwi. He'll even climb on Kiwi's own cage and go after him if I let him out into the other room and let him be. All the birds seem to hear commands and kind of go along with them. A stern MANGO will get him to pause and sometimes go do something else.

Budgies are bossy little so-and-so's and bigger that their britches and can be very determined little cuss's...but are SOOOOO lovable. :54:

It is becoming a situation. Kiwi flies in and stands up tall, beak-to-beak with Mango, and chatters and pecks at his beak, and looks like he is trying to reach in a open his beak.

Kiwi flew into their cage and that was going to go bad so I had to chase him out of there.

There are two doors into my den where Mango and Peach stay. I came in one door and the pressure jarred the other slightly open. I watched in amazement as Mango took flight, circled the room and flew straight into the door, so he could bounce off through the crack, and fly over to Kiwi's cage in the other room.

I wonder what they talk about all day when I'm not home.

I am 71, married and fairly private. I have PM privileges but prefer the phone. Printed messages, are so limited. jh
If it's not "your" bird, tell whoever; next time you will put the 3 in a single room for an hour. Let them sort it out. jh PS: You might try to get a budgie for it to bond with. jh

Yes, I was told those things are not options.

I was more amazed that my IRN is busting through walls to get to the budgie.
