My Bird's beak cracked. Pleas Help!

My Ring neck is 2.5 years old (I got him a few months ago) and his beak cracked overnight. I don't know what to do and dont have money for a vet visit right now (My gf and I are saving for one now) what can I do, should I be worried? This is the best picture of it I have. Thanks

He is still talking and doesn't seem to be in any pain or discomfort.

It's very hard to tell from the picture but it could just be a couple of the outer layers flaking badly. Flaky beak can be caused by a lack in vitamins/minerals in diet. If it is a crack I don't know what to suggest other than a trip to the vet. What is his diet like? He should be getting a good mix of pellets, fruit, veg and some seeds. Seeds need to be a fairly small portion of his diet as they are very high in fat.

Regarding your ring neck -- likely only experiencing flaking of the layers of the beak 'or' cage bar grinding with can chip the 'cutting' edge of the beak.

Budgeting Avian Care is very important as there is no way to schedule 'medical emergencies.'

FYI #1: 'SEEDS' is not a genetic term for sunflower seed! Seeds reference a Very Wide cross-section from a huge selection of grasses, flowers, to plants in general and just as widely grains. The term seeds has come to define "Sunflower" seed, which should not be a standard, large portion of any Parrots diet...

FYI #2: 'PELLETS' is a diet supplement, and like any supplement should be used to support a well balanced 'natural' diet filled with a wide range veggies, a small portion of fruit, a wide range of 'natural' seeds, grains, and select nuts common for the home range of your Parrot, with pellets supplementing this 'natural' diet.

Something I feel I should point out with mixing pellets and seeds. Pellets are usually made with added vitamins and minerals to give your bird a balanced diet. Some premixed seeds sold for birds are also fortified with added vitamins and minerals. This can potentially be bad for your birds. They can end up with too many vitamins and minerals in their diet and overdosing on them and becoming ill or dying.

When I use the term seed I am referencing the readily available premixed blends sold as bird food. I really should modify that to premixed seed rather than just seed. If you can find an online supplier that allows you to choose the seeds you use that would be your best choice.

Just as a clarification, your recommendation is for Companion Bird /Parrot Bird Seed and not 'Wild Bird Seed.'
