I sound like a proud parent at a school function here... ;), but I am amazed at the way Green Bean is talking; I mean REALLY TALKING. Things she says so clearly, and at perfect timing to make you think she's not 'just parroting,' but actually talking...

What ya doin?
Where ya goin?
I'm gonna get me a bird!
I'm a silly bird.
Give me a kiss... then kisses while making the smooch, smooch sound.
Stop it!
Shut up. (not too fond of that one. :)
Green Bean's a pretty bird.....
When it's bath time; she'll say... "Time to scrub the birdie. Now shake your feathers, flap your wings!"
Come on, let's go.
Time for my nectar! Hurry up!
If she's bored or thinks she's being ignored... "Green Bean sad......."
Green Bean's toys; My toys!
Green Bean go poop, let's go see daddy.....
If she hears a loud noise... "Whoa, what's that / what is that?"
My favorite... when we play, she'll say: "I'm the great Green Beanie!" and then laugh.
She does a hilarious cough and sneeze imitation of my wife.
and on and on and on..............
She talks under her breath at times when I'll be playing with her like we're having a true argument; especially is I tell her it's time for bed.

All in all; it is amazing how this little bird of mine can talk, literally carry on a conversation with me!" Brought her from Petco back in December and she couldn't say a word, then first learned "step up." Now it's new words all the time... I've got to get all of this on video to share with you guys. I guess I have my wife to thank for this because she spends so much time talking and playing with her. She does tend to parrot my wife's voice but it's still pretty impressive at how crystal clear she can say these words and phrases and all at the right time to carry out a conversation.

And like many lories; she's also potty trained, can catch a ball in her feet and does tumbles and flips when playing.

Firstly; thank you all very much for your kind words on my little 'Green Bean.' She just keeps talking and learning new words seemingly every day. She is one vocal little bird, with quite an attitude to accompany.......:D

I think the biggest thing that maybe got her to just start talking away is the amount of time my wife and I spend using 'baby talk' and just goofing off with her. We are always wrestling with her, talking, etc. - and we're still amazed at how she will pick up words and phrases... sometimes when we can't even remember how she would have learned these words. I'm so thankful for my little bird, and my wife has so much fun talking with her. She just starting saying, "Whoa, Nellie!" today; this morning and my wife just said that to her about an hour ago. She seems to be one special little bird, but of course I'm partial to her.;)

And Callie... I'll bet you at any time your Charlie will start talking away and surprising you with more words or phrases. Just play and spend 'hands on' time with him as often as you can. Play with his toys and talk, talk, talk. Your Charlie sounds like a special little bird as well; maybe he's just a little shy right now. We've had Green Bean since December and I remember that day walking into Petco and seeing her sitting in that little box they keep their birds in... I thought; what a beautiful Conure...... Even the store clerks had no idea what at Lorikeet really was and they had her on seeds as her diet! She took to me right away and when I asked to hold her; she immediately jumped onto my shoulder and snuggled up against my face. I walked around with her for about 5 seconds and just knew she had picked me as her new bird friend; I had to bring her home into the family.

Every day; I listen for her to say "Hi, good mornin.' Let's go! She's my wake-up alarm. And when she's ready for her nectar; she doesn't let us forget it. :)
More videos to come..........

Your Green Bean is the cutest!! I enjoyed watching her in the videos. :D What a character she is!

I have a Chattering Lory and truly believe they can and do carry on conversations with us... when something startles Sweet Pea, she'll say "eeekkkk! What's that?!!!" If she hears a sound that sounds suspicious, she'll make a siren sound.

When my husband has been gone on overnight trips, I don't feel alone in the house because of my Sweet Pea - she's like a little person. So I can relate to everything you're saying, I think lories & lorikeets are little entertainment systems wrapped in feathers. :D

In this one she's tossing around her toys, one of her favorites is hacky sacks - she'll toss them back and forth to us, or just toss them around on her own. At the end of the video she says "go get it" and "what doing"

Green Bean is such a precious name!!!! It was so awesome once ours started talking! I can't wait for them to say more stuff! Our female speaks more clearly then our male who speaks in a scratchy voice but the sneezing and fake coughing is so spot on! Our female mimics my coughing and sneezing daily!! I used to think she was ill until I realized she only did it when I am actually sneezing or coughing! It's nice to see other's with Keets who do similar things!

Thanks to all of you! Her vocabulary continues to grow and people cannot believe they carry on a conversation with her! Most ask her to say "hi" or "pretty bird," Green Bean will respond with "hey, what are you doing? Yes, I'm a pretty bird. Green Bean wants juice or nectar. Now, sit down and watch TV with us."
After that; people think they're losing their mind; it's hilarious!

This is so amazing! She is just the prettiest thing!
How old was she when she started talking? (Apologies if you've already answered that haha) My (almost) 5 month old boy Oscar is just starting to talk. So far he can say "hi" and "spazz" (thanks hubby for that second one) and i'm trying to teach him to say his name! He also mimics the noises my cockatiel baby makes (she's just 4 weeks younger than Oscar) which is adorable (but also kind of annoying xD)

I brought him home when he was 15 weeks old and i've had him for just over a month now (brought him home on May 30th). He's just now starting to let me pet/scratch his head and neck (he's turning into a real teddy bear) and he'll come running to the door of his cage when he sees me coming lol!

Also would you mind sharing some tips on potty training? I would *love* to potty train Oscar but i'm not really sure where to start. I've looked up some stuff online but I feel like i'd get a better wrap on it if I hear it from someone who has actually done it with a Lorikeet.

Aren't they just the most hilarious little things? My husband made a wood & rope toy out of a length of thick dowel which he cut up into random sized pieces and drilled some holes in and strung them together with some rope and Oscar LOVES it. He climbs all over it and swings from it and lays on his back on the bottom of his cage kicking the lowest pieces around with his feet lmao.
