If you're in the North Cal area, my fried boarded her bird, Astrid, while she was out of town and Astrid escaped. Here's her craigslist ad:

Thank you. My friend is heartbroken. She and her husband have no kids (by choice), so Astrid is her baby. She and her husband both are devastated and angry with the place that lost her.

Bump.

She's still missing. They were hopeful when a similar looking bird was found not too far away, but it turned out to be a different cockatiel.

RIP Gandalf and Big Bird, you are missed.
Very sorry to hear Astrid has escaped. I can only imagine their anger is surpassed by worry and heartbreak.

There are many techniques to get the word out. Please peruse the 104 page "I lost Maggie tonight" thread on this subforum for many ideas.

I image the boarding store is in a business district?

I've read the first 20 pages or so and the last few. They have called all the vets and rescues in the area and a little bit past where they think she might be able to fly. They've posted ads anywhere they can think of posting them, put flyers up, and have bought a soundtrack of cockatiel vocalizations to play at their apartment (with permission of their landlord and neighbors) in case she's tried to find her way home and is nearby. Many of her friends, like me, have posted on our own resources to help out. I wish I could do more, but I'm nearly 300 miles south.
