I last saw him at 1PM yestetday. He was perched on my shower rod. My sisier was in the bathroom at 12 45 and he was there. At 1 he wasnt.

I asked where Jade was. Nobody could find him. The doors hadnt been opened.
A little background.
Sunday afternoon he kept trying to mate with my hand so I tried distraction. When that didnt work i took the lid off of the nest box and put him to bed early.

I let him out at 9 and he did get out of my bathroom and went to the front room. He visited mu mom and got scritches. He then tried to mate with her so he was returned to the bathroom.

He came to see me and got scritches then went in the bathroom.

Initially after looking for him i thought he just found a new place to nest. Surely he will come out by bedtime. He didnt. Even though i have no clue how he could have possibly left the house i put a cage out last night.

I spent an hour looking for him already this morning including outside. I have no clue where he is. I guess later today I will proceed as if he somehow escaped.

Still though from 11 to 3 the doors hadnt been opened. How could he have gotten out? Where is he?

How scary, Grace! Have you checked underneath all the furniture? If he is feeling hormonal he may well have found a nice, dark hiding spot. Could he have gotten into any cabinets?
I hope you find him soon, sending good thoughts your way.

Adding to the above, I would include checking 'in' the furniture. Many chairs, sofas, lower box spring of the bed and alike have soft bottoms that can easily be enter and become trapped. There are many areas in the home that a Parrot can work into and not get back out of!

Wow, that's so scary! I've lost my Green Cheek for 2 minutes and freaked out, so I can't imagine what you are going through.

Make sure you open EVERY cabinet, drawer, any piece of furniture that has a door on it, every closet, and under every piece of furniture. I've seen several times where a bird has been locked inside a cabinet or a drawer accidentally and he couldn't be heard from inside.

If you are absolutely certain he is not outside, it will be necessary to begin a thorough and extremely methodical search inside. I'd begin room to room and literally start at one end and carefully search. Keep notes, or even use a camera phone to document areas covered.

Good luck, hope you find Jade soon. Please keep us posted.

Hoping he is okay and found safe. Have you checked any vents? They can sometimes be near the floor, he could have gotten into one of those. Sending prayers he is found safe and sound.

Yes, check drawers!
Rb once hid in one and if he hadn't yelled when I shut it, he might have been there a while.
Good luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I can't really tell what I'm looking at in the photo but I'm assuming that the hole somehow leads to outside? Or does it go inside the walls? I was thinking about that possibility, I've heard of pets getting stuck inside of walls...I certainly hope he didn't get loose outside, I know you already put his cage out there, but if you are certain at this point that he got outside somehow you should probably start calling local rescues, shelters, vets, get on Facebook, etc.

Ellen it does both. I opened the wall on the other side and found a big plumbing access hole under my tub that goes outside. I live in a manufactured home.

I also advise getting apps like Nextdoor as I've heard it's very helpful to be in close contact with neighbors when a bird gets loose.

Are you able to find any forensic evidence such as feathers or droppings? I would imagine Jade would be poking around the hole unless it is clearly obvious the route to outside.

No news yet. I ran out of fliers and need to make more. I put a big sign in my yard and an going to out out more. I go out at dusk and dawn to look for him.

Hes not in the house anywhere so we leave the door open all day. Someone is always home.

I found and put ads on 2 parrot sites as well as craigslist.

His cage is outside. Im still a bit baffled as to how he got out but the hole in the floor under the tub is the only plausible explanation i can come up with.

What a horrible experience to go through, though I'm sure if he was in the house somewhere, even inside a wall or somewhere similar you would have heard him by now.

Did you put him up on Parrot911? They seem to find a lot of lost birds and reconnect them with their owners. Obviously Facebook is also an awesome place, I know Parrot911 puts all of the birds registered as lost on their website up on their Facebook page as well. I helped a neighbor who lost her cockatiel in December using a lot of local Facebook pages and Craigslist, which was the place she originally posted that her bird got out, I had no idea until I saw it on Craigslist. Also, if you haven't already, make sure you call all of your local shelters, rescues, veterinary offices and animal hospitals, and your local police department and animal control officer. I lost my pug on a Saturday night around 6:00, everything was closed, so I left messages on the voicemails of my local shelters, and on Sunday morning a woman who found him on her back porch about 3 miles from my house called the shelters. They told her they had gotten a voicemail about a lost pug and gave her my number, I got him home an hour later.
