Found Amazon in the Pasadena, CA area

Thanks for reaching out here. We have members here from all over the world so hopefully this Amazon can find its home! Have you also contacted your local veterinarians, animal shelters and social media? A picture of the Amazon would be extremely helpful in finding its owner. Does it have a leg band? Does it have the ability to talk or say anything specific? Knowing these things may help also in reuniting this bid with its owner who is probably missing it a lot!

In the meantime, what are you doing to take care of the little guy, do you perhaps hopefully have a cage to enclose him in, and what kind of food have you fed him at all?

We have brought him (or her) into our local humane society and local exotic vet, as well as posted on parrotalert911, parrotalert, the found section on this forum and craigslist. I have also searched the lost section of all those sites as well to no avail. I'm not much of a social media user, but my brother in law posted about him on Facebook. We will be putting up some flyers in our neighborhood this weekend.

We have outfitted him with a temporary cage with scrubbed and baked eucalyptus branches from our yard and some toys. If we end up holding onto him for longer, we will get him a better set up. The cage he is in now is not small, but is not big enough for long term.

He has been eating pellets with some veggies and fruit on the side and some members on here have been advising me about making sure he gets the nutrition he needs.

I'm wary (and have been warned by members) about posting a picture or any more specifics about him to prevent any unscrupulous bird flippers. But he was found in the Pasadena, CA area if that helps. I just want to make sure he doesn't end up in the wrong hands!

Seems you have done all of the best things to care for and help return this parrot to its home.

Hi, could he be one of the Amazon babies that fall from trees this time of year?
I live in California and I know many people find them during this time and think they belong to someone, but its usually wild babies. I actually adopted one from the Sherlter 2 years ago and I had no idea it was wild. She had many worms. Took her to the vet and she was fine after that. I loved her so much and she was a great girl, unfortunately, she ended up joining a flock that flew over our home. We were all really sad, but after time, I just accepted the fact that she was where she belonged in the first place.

I really don't know how she got out but she stuck around for 2 weeks. She was really hungry and was making a hungry sound. The flock would come and say something to her and they would all fly away together. It was really hard, but the Wildlife Waystation told me that if she did fly away with them, they would teach her to find food.

Are you certain that he's a tame, pet Amazon, and not one of the many, many wild Amazons that live in the LA area? In fact, just a couple of weeks ago, a well-known parrot-vlogger who lives in Encino/Tarzana area also found an Amazon that was injured, took him in and got him medical care, and it ended up that he was a wild Amazon that was just acting a bit tame because he was in pain. There are Amazons all over Southern Cali, especially all around LA. So it's very likely that he is actually a wild parrot, as they are "tame" to a point, as people feed them all the time, and they are becoming like pigeons or doves, where it's difficult to tell whether they are wild or not. Of course if he has a leg band or a microchip then he's obviously a pet.

It sounds like you've posted on all of the websites you need to, you hit them all...Have you had him scanned for a microchip? They are becoming extremely common for pet birds, especially the medium to large species of parrots, and to the best of my knowledge most any Avian and Exotic Vet office will scan the bird for free, it takes only a minute to do, and if he has one then you'll have the owner.
