Akward question

Okay this is an akward question to ask but umm....Do birds masturbate? >.<
I went into my room earlier to grab something and I saw my youngest bird rubbing his butt area on his little happy hut that he sleeps in.....Maybe it was just doing something else but it looked very disturbing....lol

Yep they do!!! One of the babies that I just raised was humping his hut at 2 months old....lol

Yes, females do it as well. My G2 did it all of the time. She had a toy in the corner of her cage that she would "love on" as we called it

She always managed to do it when we had people over, it's bad enough when your friends look at you like your the crazy bird lady, it's even worse when you have to explain to them that your cockatoo likes to masturbate in front of people. :54:

Yes, they do.
My cockatoo has decided that he's in love with my father and when he visits, he gets that on his hand.
My poor father thought he was dancing until he regurged on him.

An awkward question would be, do *you* m.... oh never-mind.

Yes, birds certainly do mimic what they see ... ok, kidding again ...

But this one has been pretty well covered. Many birds take care of business quite regularly; birds do not have the same shame or weird taboos about sexuality as us confused hairless apes.

yes, my dear, get used to it! I've noticed with my umbrella cockatoo that he is more active, (on his towel), in the spring time. He is also more territorial at that time. By the end of summer he was over it! I free flight him and he has modified a hole in the oak next to our deck. He was especially busy on that hole in the spring and more vocal than normal. Poor guy, he doesn't know that female cockatoos are scarce in our neighborhood!

Our original GCC, Tango, used to scream and squeal during the whole process! And it always seemed like visitors set her going!!

Yeah.....not awkward, just need to think about it for a sec....can a dog hump your leg??

Of course, most mammals and animals do....It's called hormones...and right about now birds are actively in mating season so the hormones are at their highs right now.

My tiel has never done that....well not in front of me. I couldnt see her doing it she dislikes her cage, she rather be out and about. Great things to look foward to.
