More pictures

I finally got a new camera today, so no more fuzzy pics!

Just after I got the camera home, my brother stopped by for coffee, with my nieces Lovebird (he was bird sitting while she was at the movies). My nieces bird's name is Honey. Honey is Pepper's clutchmate, so they took a moment to get reacquaintedand then set about playing, which means I got to test the new camera.

Saying hello.

Hanging out on top Pepper's cage playing with the tops of the toys. Honey is the one scratching his head, don't mind the few wet feathers, he got caught in the rain on his way in.

Pepper trying to encourage Honey to join in his favourite game of "climb the drapes"

It took Honey a few minutes to figure out how to get on the drapes, while Pepper hung upside down a few inches up chirping away at him. Once Honey got it though, up they went.

I think the humans had just as much fun watching the birds as the birds did playing. My brother hadn't yet realized how smart these bird are and he was astounded that they seemed to be communicating with each other. He was staring amazed while Pepper was waiting on the drapes chirping away while Honey figured out how to get a good grip. I wish I had gotten a picture of the look on his face. I didn't think about it at the time though.

Re: More pictures

Climbing curtains is one of the favored sports for my lovebirds. They fly to the floor, run over and seem to race to the top, then they fly back to the floor and repeat over and over. They squawk and squawk and have such a royally good time. My curtains go to the floor for just this reason. They also climb my bedding (bed blanket reaches nearly to the floor as well - within easy hopping distance) and if I have my belts hanging up in my closet they climb from the bottom of those (flying up a bit required) and up to the rod. The victor squawks and boasts the other usually gets their beak out of joint (jealous). It is SO funny to watch.

Re: More pictures

Bucc and Kito seem to hate having curtain us, their favourite sport is seeing how fast they can unhook them, they can managed to get them down in just a few seconds. I swear they work together on this.

Re: More pictures

I think the little guys see curtains as mountains, but the big guys see curtains more like a pile of leaves lol.

Re: More pictures

Hahahaha funny you should say that, I put blinds up and I wasn't even gonna bother with curtains, they never get shut, but didn't want the boys getting to the new blinds, so up went curtains, so far its worked, they concentrate all their efforts on the curtains and leave the blinds alone.

Its not the curtains they want, its the things they hang up with. Boy are they saying the really don't have enough toys.

Re: More pictures

haha

just a thought - have you tried hanging some toys from the curtain rod instead of the curtains?
