Sick bird?

I recently got a new lovebird. She was very lively yesterday, chirping and hopping around her cage. I gave her some slivered almonds (I looked it up online and many sources said it was ok for her to eat them), and for the next three hours she was rummaging through her food bowl... According to my dad she did that again today and when I got home and she was sleeping on the ground. I opened the door and she usually hops out but she is still sleeping there. Does anyone know if it was the almonds and if it will pass as she digests them, or if she's really sick and I need to take her to a vet! Thanks!

how old is your bird??, if she's a baby...maybe 7-9 weeks, sometimes they will still doze on the floor, although it's not that common. rule of thumb is if a bird is asleep on the floor of the cage, it's not well. She may have loved the almonds, but the almonds did not love her....they do't contain salt do they, and were they organic??
Is she puffy?? and check her poop, if it's watery, runny, then something is not right, and you need to get her to a avian vet. good luck and keep us posted!!

Thank you for all the help! I turned up the heat a little bit and she seemed to perk up. We still took her to an avian vet and she said that it was most likely just the temperature! She still sits and rummages through her food bowl though :\ I just hope that's a habit she'll break. Thanks :)

I deem if the almonds are provided just as treat, it will not generate any health trouble.
How many almonds did you give her?

Young bird's do fall asleep almost anywhere.

Not sure what your bird's age is?
Perhaps your bird is too young for almonds?
