Benny our lovebird that we have raised since 3 weeks of age is making every noise/whistle but a lovebird one. He was raised with budgies chattering in the background. When he got old enough to make noises on his own he made the same exact noises a budgie would make. He was also raised together with a sun conure the same age. We have raised them both together since they were 3 weeks old so they are well adjusted to eachother. Today I caught Benny making sun conure grunt noises. I was first shocked to hear that Benny was making budgie noises but now noises of a sun conure. Really? It is too cute to hear and I wish I caught these on camera but, he is a real good mimmicker and doesnt know how to make noises of his own kind. hahaha tooo funny! I should take this opportunity and try and teach him to talk since he can mimmick well.

That is so cute. Lovebirds must be so influential because mine came from a breeder who also raises cockatiels, thus he scratches his head, over the top of the wing, like a cockatiel. He also was raised around my Grey and RB2, so he learned to say some of their more common phrases, like "what coin'?", "stop it," "come here," and "smack!" (for a kiss). Lovebirds are amazing. Love the picture of your babies together. That is beyond adorable.

Basil spent his first year with a canary breeder and we hear canary sounds from him every so often. He can also mimic the finches he hears outside. Funny birdie.

Wow, I had no idea Lovebirds could talk!! When I was in my 20's and early 30's I had a few lovebirds - didn't have any other type of birds though... so they only made their own native chirping noises.

Aw thats so cute :yellow1:I had a cockatiel called Sunny who was quite young and used to follow the lovebirds around and speak like them. The lovebirds used to look at him like "your not mine...who's baby is this!?" lol the only other noises sunny made were when a emergency vehicle went past the house with their siren on :)

Yes, absolutely lovebirds can talk! I really, really need to get a video of mine talking because he can say about a dozen different phrases, so clearly there is no doubt what he's saying. I also have a ten-year-old female lovebird (not his mate, just a single pet) that can say a few things, as well, "what doin'," "come here!", and "stop it!" Lovebirds definitely can talk. :)
