I have to take my lovebird to the vet for a beak trim, but I don't drive, so am using public transportation. It's going to be 35 degrees out. How can I keep him warm during the short time we will be outside?

You should not have any problems, as long as you're not going to keep the bird out for extended periods. Although they originate from tropical climates, our feathered friends can handle temps in the mid 30s for extended periods & colder for short periods. I've listed a couple of links to products available from walmart, but you could also find them elsewhere or similar products.

I offered these links because they're inexpensive, suitable for what you need & they can be slipped into a pillowcase to keep winds off of him. Since you don't have your own transportation, I would check with the store to verify the item was in stock...of course you could always have it sent to your house.....

Here’s a couple of hard carriers:

Suncast Deluxe Personalized Pet Carrier, Small - Walmart.com

Get the Petmate Pet Taxi for less at Walmart.com. Save money. Live better.

Both are listed with walmart, but are also available from other vendors…..

Petsmart also carries those same kind of plastic carriers, for around $20, so if you have a Petsmart in your neighborhood, you can save on shipping. I got a pretty pink one from the cat section for $20 last time I needed one of those.

Does Elbee have a health problem that requires to have his beak trimmed?

His beak got freakishly long in December. I put more cuttle bones out, but he's not a big chewer. The vet looked at him and said it wasn't liver related, as he's in good feather and his feet look good. If he didn't look so darn good, he would have done some tests on him, but he's healthy. Vet thinks he may have bumped it on something, causing it to grow. I was proud of Elbee, he was very calm during the process, and even had his nails trimmed. Then we went to Starbucks!
