Question Tiny Bird Safety Leash For Love Birds and Parakeets

not planning on ordering one, although i did try out a flight suit. that didn't go that well and I was scared that my lovies would slip out of it because it was only secured by Velcro.

What is the leash actually made from? it looks like some sort of rubbery plastic but i cant be sure. There's no way that would be safe for a lovebird they'd chew right out of it. It doesn't say what the material is although I'm interested to see how well they work and how birds take to them.

there's a video on the page as well so you can see how it works.

Re: Tiny Bird Safety Leash For Love Birds and Parakeets

I was going to get one of those but after careful research I elected not to at this time (they were backordered at Christmas-time anyway). It's not a harness but like hawk jesses for the legs. The reason I chose not to is because I felt the snaps would be too heavy and bother my lovebird's legs. I'm going to let these be out for a while before I reconsider them. Hopefully, people that have used with them with their birds (and not just with a vested interest, such as the gentleman in the video) will report back. Good luck if you decide to use them. I would be interested in your results.

I havn't used then but I thought they looked like a rubbery plastic too.

I'm not a big fan of these, they are probably comfier for a bird but you may end up with two dislocated/broken legs(no reports of this, so maybe it is safe). There are also a lot of things you need to check making more room for human error. I've had many lobster claw key chains break on me and seeing 3 here kinda freaks me out.

Re: Tiny Bird Safety Leash For Love Birds and Parakeets

I do not think I could use this on Valentino my RFM. He would be able to chew the rubber/plastic too quickly. The aviator Harness is what I am using for Valentino because it is designed for the safety of flying him outside and is also designed not to lay over the crop so if he has food in the crop it will not press on it while wearing it.

Unfortunately the smallest for the Aviator harness is 75 to 110 gram bird size. What are the lovebird, parrotlet owners doing for harnesses???

Yeah sorry about that I just copied the label from the website and put it as the thread title, then i just called them harnesses. Your right

I'm not planning on getting some because they don't look very strong, the little clips on the ends for the feet do look quite heavy especially for the smaller birds. I get my birds out for playtime but I'm not comfortable taking them outside because they arent recall trained and they'd dissapear or just sit up high and stare at me wondering why i haven't magically used my arms to fly up and get them down lol.

I'd quite like to hear if any real bird owners have used these.

I saw those aviator harnesses but they don't do them in a really small size. I do however have a flight suit for the lovebirds (I got it just to test them out) its a good idea but the one i got had elastic straps that would go above the wings (it looks like a swimsuit) the lovebird chewed at them and the bird is secured into it with velcro. I didnt think the velcro was very reliable. They do these for larger parrots as well. I'm not sure if they use velcro on them as well I could see them un strapping it.

I took my lovebird Muffin out on it once when our bird sky flew away (we were searching the area) she was okay in it but just chewed the straps so I held on to her the whole time. She wasnt great at walking in it though... I haven't used it since.

I'm building an aviary in the garden so they'll get more exercise that way
