Peach Faced Lovebird - Wilson
Hey all.

My lovey and I are moving house. I'm comfortable he will be fine with the move and he has a really nice spot in our new house. The room he will b in, however, will have an open fire. I know I will need a guard or the fire when he's out but will the smoke from the fire damage him? As far as I know the chimney takes the majority of the smoke away so hopefully it'll be ok but I'd rather ask than take the risk!

Cheers

D

The smoke will definitely kill your bird.
Much of the smoke escapes from a guard, and not all smoke goes directly up the chimney.
PLEASE DO NOT TAKE A RISK, YOUR BIRDS' LIFE IS IN YOUR HANDS

If you can smell it, so can your bird. Fireplaces are very dusty and smoky. Setting our fire use to set off the alarm. A lot of smoke will make it to your bird, I wouldnt light it with him on the same floor of the house.
