Lovebird
My Lovebird, Lucky, seems to have some irrational fears.

1) brooms and brushes. Even if the broom is being used in the next room.

2) any sort of stick held near her

3) human hands

4) towels, hand cloths, dish towels, etc. (somewhat understandable, I have used dish towels to capture her when I had to give her medicine, but I never hurt her).

some birds are just like that, i would say these are just individual quirks of hers.

she sounds skittish and untame. for some of the irrational fears, simply place the fearful object a comfortable distance from the cage and slowly move it a little closer each week :)

Mine are babies, and are (so far as I can tell) only scared of hands. They tolerate mine in the cage for cleaning, so long as I move slowly and let them get out of the way each time.

Large things and sticks do it for my sennie. Broom handles, ladders, anything like that near her and she flips right out. I don't think it's just a lovebird thing.

Peach faced lovebird Basil
Basil hates brooms almost as much as he hates the vacuum. Birds are afraid of snakes so that makes sense if you think about. Basil came to us terrified of hands but has made incredible progress in this area. He will step up but still will not let me scratch his hand with my other hand (but he will let me rub his head with my chin. Really). He is scared of tea towels and dish cloths. Sounds like normal lovebird phobias to me!

No it's not just your lovebird, my Hubby has a great fear of fruits & vegetables, anything colorful and he freaks out and jumps just to get away from it. So yeah, each bird has his or her quirks

my lovebird is slowing getting over her huge fear of hands and my Blue Crown is deathly terrified of the vacuum!
