2 Indian Ringnecks, Tiki (DH's) and Pippin (mine), 1 lovebird, Gemma (DD's) and 1 in birdy Heaven... RIP, Wilbur.
Gemma laid two eggs the other day... it seemed to be quite distressing to her :( poor baby...

Today, she was getting "scritches" on her head when she suddenly flew at DD's chest, latched on and was grinding her beak back and forth. DD managed to get her to release but then the bird latched on a second time before we were able to stop her. DD has two huge welts and the bird drew blood...

Any words of wisdom? Advice? :(

Gemma have bonded with one of you and attacked DD. Lovebirds can be quite vicious like that especially during nesting time. Best to tell DD to stay clear until she's done nesting.

The ONLY person in the house that Gemma is bonded to is DD..That's her person, and typically, she calls to her all the time, "Baby! Baby!" and just adores her! That's why this came as such a shock! I wouldn't have blinked an eye if she'd gone after me..

Gemma might have had a bad day....PMS might be high right now from laying eggs....

Malachai came after me one day when I opened his cage, he flew out at me and he drew blood. Got him off and he came back for more...He was going crazy that day...But next day he was fine.

I sure hope it's just a reaction to the shock of laying eggs and being all hormonal... and that she gets back to "normal" soon. Thanks for your input...I will update over the next few days!
