Good morning guys! I have a quick question.
My lovebird this morning for the first time even vomited and then ate it.
he's six months old. Can he be sexually mature? I'm new to all this...

He had been fighting an infection because he was attacked my our dog, but he's been super fine 100%.
He's been eating super well, drinking, playing. I think it's strange but just want to ask ...

thanks!

Lovebirds are not sexually mature at that age. As a matter of fact, if you let them develop the way they do in Nature, they don't even get their adult plumage until they are two. It might be regurgitation but I've never heard of a bird eating it after...

My caique is only about 4 1/2 months old and she has regurgitated for me. She then ate some of it, but not all. They don't have to be sexually mature to regurgitate, and I think sometimes they eat it and sometimes they don't.

Regurgitation can be a perfectly normal behavior for a lovebird; it is part of the mating ritual.
Chances are it is breeding behavior. If he is eating normally, has normal droppings and acts normal except for the occasional regurgitation to an object of its affection, then there is probably nothing to worry about.
There are also illnesses that would cause a lovebird to regurgitate.
Most of the illnesses with this as a symptom would have to do with the upper digestive tract such as infection, poison, thyroid problems, or an object in the digestive tract.

To put your mind at rest perhaps a visit to the vet is suggested.

update-

Mitsouko is doing well. He's chirping a lot, eating well all day long and acting just as his usual self. :)
I will be monitoring him, but it appears normal. :)

thanks guys!

Has your bird started his first molt yet? My Rita is probably about 6 months too and is going through her first molt and getting her adult colors. She also has started "rubbing" on different rope toys. :-o Maybe they are early bloomers!
