I cant choose

Alright so I have decided to re-home my current lovebird PLEASE don't rag me about the decision it was a hard one but needs to happen. Now i have decided to get a new parrot once Misty moves to a new home. I am trying to decide between a lovebird(i love their colors BUT they are SO feisty) and a GCC. Like i said i love the look of Lovebirds but their personality is so tough i really want a bird that properly trained is snuggly(my biggest quality i want about a bird) and i like the medium sized parrots but a sun conure is too loud and The GCCs are not that pretty in my opinion at least not when compared to lovebirds (I love the pied ones) so… i need help

What does pretty have to do with a bird?

I suppose you should look at the black topped or Pineapple or Cinnamon GCC mutations.

But I don't see what beauty has to do with the kind of bird you want?

I CAN choose

to not give you any advice because you do not appear to take parrothood seriously if you are willing to give up your current bird to get another.

Why does it need to happen?

Sorry Misty15, but I'm with Gary here. If there are good reasons for rehoming your current bird, what would be different with a new bird?

Note - I am not condemning you for choosing to rehome your bird because in some cases, that IS the best course of action for the sake of the bird. Of course, you would have tried everything possible to make it work because you wouldn't want to put the bird through the trauma of adjusting to a new home for some arbitrary reason, right? But to immediately replace the rehomed bird? Whatever for?

And requirements like "pretty" and "snuggly"? Huh? You should come meet MY bird. He is not "pretty" because he's got 2 poorly healed breaks in his wing and the multitude of nips on my hands are testiment to how "snuggly" he is. However, in my eyes he is the sweetest, dearest, cleverest, most beautiful bird I've ever seen and hell will freeze over before I give him up.

I suggest you think carefully before aquiring a new bird.

Re: I cant choose

Yes, please give us more info on why your lovebird needs a new home? People won't feel right recommending anything. What is it about your lovebird that makes it not a good fit? And why do you think a new bird may be better?

I agree, that based solely on your first comment it seems you don't take parronthood seriously. Please don't be offended by that, I'm just letting you know how the members will see that as so you can explain in a way we can understand.

Re: I cant choose

Birds are not really known to be cuddly... If you want something "pretty" as a pet maybe you just have to live with an aviary type situation where your bird is there to look at rather than play with? Conures can be nippy, loud and needy as with any other bird and it's more about understanding bird behavior and proper training and bonding than getting lucky with a cuddly easy bird

Re: I cant choose

Why do you have to give up your Love Bird to get another one? It would be good for them both to have a buddy nearby for the times when you're not at home.
