Hi! I just brought three hand fed lovebirds and I have only had a cockatiel before. They are all currently clipped.
Yesterday they were calm and seemed okay and they are eating. Today, my yellow one is flapping its wings a lot and biting my hand. Not hard, but it didn't do that nearly as often yesterday when I picked them up at the breeders home. She did say that they would explore with their beak, but it does not seem that it is what it is doing. It also is biting the peach-faced lovebirds beak quite often and seems to be agitated. I am not sure if this is normal or if I am missing something.

That's the reason why for the beak biting part. Please do make sure they are eating well. If not and they're losing weight return them to the breeder ASAP and ask the breeder to re-wean the babies.

Do you happen to have any idea why the yellow might start acting so agitated?

The Lutino chick might of been the youngest or freshly weaned but still begging. When they wanna eat they can get quite aggressive with the begging behavior and that's why you need to watch their weight and make sure they are eating on their own.

Well, as far as eating goes, they are all eating, I checked on them and they were happily munching on their food. As far as the lutino chick, its actually the oldest.

Hi:I had the same problem with two lovebirds I got from a breeder who said the birds were tame but when I got them home they wouldn't come near me .They were just weaned also and hand fed. They were only tame with the breeder.Do you have all three in the same cage?My two are very aggressive with my other three when out of their cages .If your birds are all in the same cage and the yellow one is attacking the other birds then put it in a cage of it's own because they can do a lot of damage to each other if fighting. They usually like to be two to a cage only if they are a bonded pair.Three in a cage don't usually get along when they get older.I'm no expert but this is just from my own experience with my birds.
