So since I have my babies in different cages (Nips&Dino in 1 cage. Gabby in another cage.) I was wondering if I should look into getting Gabby a friend. I can't always, take her out (She flies back to her old cage which Dino&Nips have taken over.) Should I try to find a friend for Gabby, or let her bond more with me?

I want to know before I jump head first into this. And Nips has stopped plucking, and Gabby's wound is fully healed.

If Gabby seems fine alone, then it's up to you

. Of course if YOU want another bird you can use the excuse Gabby needs a friend

So the question to ask yourself is would you rather bond more with Gabby, or have 4 Lovebirds?

Gabby has bonded with me a lot already. But I feel like she's lonely when I'm at work and school. Her cage is right next to Nips&Dino's cage, so she can see them. But can birds get jealous? Lol Gabby is the only bird in my house with a cage to herself.

And I've had about 6 lovebirds in my room before.

I wouldn't worry about her being lonely. She can see other activity, and if she has plenty of toys she will be just fine

She doesn't really play unless I throw the little toy balls near her, then she throws them back.

But I was only asking because I saw BEAUTIFUL lovebirds at a pet store today.

It is fine for them to be along in the cage cause she does have company of your other two lovebirds near by. By getting Gabby another friend, it does not necessary mean that they will get along! Then your dealing with another issue all over again.

Please note: my personal opinion (not telling anyone what to do).

I think the loneliest thing you'll ever see is a Lovebird on its own. I believe they thrive best with at least one friend to snuggle up with at night - our Pineapple was miserable when her little mate, Peachie, was lost. Now, she has four baby Fischer's to snuggle with and she's happy as a lark. I'd get your Gabby a friend if I were you. Just sayin'...

It has been my experience that if you have a pair of birds, you work with the pair not the individuals. I do it that way with my Beaks and they're coming along beautifully.

Gabby is very gentle bird. I think trying to get her be to buddies with Nips&Dino was a bad idea, because those 2 had already bonded. I'm just ask for opinions, my mom says I don't need a 4th mouth to feed. Still looking to find Gabby a female lovebird (Because her traits lead me to believe she is female.)

I used to raise Lovebirds many years ago. Trust me they can be solitary! It's a misconception that because their name is called Lovebirds that they needed to be in a pair situation. They do just fine alone!

Mainly just what people think on this topic. I know Gabby is a happy lil' bird now, but I feel like she would get lonely and jealous (seeing Nips&Dino cuddling.) But I'm not going to adopt another Lovebird, unless I can see signs of Gabby getting depressed/Lonely.

I agree with Trish & Mikeys comments.
lovebirds do well together with a buddy or mate, and they do fine on their own.

I really don't think birds get 'jealous', rather frustrated that they cannot get near the other pair.

for example Halo, my male is truly bonded with me, but loves cuddling with my female conure, so he gets the best of both worlds.

On the other hand Tie Dye, is my other male, and is terribly lonely, and I am considering getting him a mate....he just hangs around my other pair all day long, looking very dejected.

I really think it depends on YOUR situation, and what is best for YOUR bird.

Gabby is always looking into Nips&Dino's cage, and shes working on an escape as I type this. So maybe when I get enough money to get her a larger cage, because maybe she wants more space to roam.

But when Gabby isn't escape she's quietly chirping in her little house, all the way in the back (Like in the darkest corner.)
